It was only a matter of time before Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and the rest of the gang from a galaxy far, far away invaded Tumblr. While beloved "Star Wars" characters have shown up in millions of memes, animated GIFs, and probably quite a few fan fiction entries on the popular blogging site, this week marks Vader's official presence thanks to Lucasfilm and Disney Interactive.
We laugh at the kids.
They're so silly. They have no sense of decorum. Sometimes they're just plain embarrassing.
Why, just a few breaths ago, we were wondering what possessed so many young minds to post selfies from funerals.
Then the world's leaders gather for Nelson Mandela's funeral and they do just the same thing.
Here were British Prime Minister David Cameron, Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and President Barack Obama grinning it up, as the latter two held a smartphone steady. (It's unlikely to have been the president's, as he's often said how committed he is to his BlackBerry.)… Read more

One of the ongoing visual jokes in the animated Fox show "Bob's Burgers" is the Burger of the Day, a pun-tastic food-stravaganza on a bun, written on a small blackboard behind the counter. (You can see the burgers here thanks to another enterprising Tumblr blogger who's screencapping them all.)
A 10-month-old Tumblr blog by the name of The Bobs Burgers Experiment is going a step further -- by bringing Bob's Burger of the Day into the real world. Initially, the updates were slow, and then the blog went dead for seven months -- coming back a month ago, when it promised a new burger every Tuesday. … Read more
Two of the Internet's most popular image categories have collided in a Tumblr blog: sexy guys and funny cats. Des Hommes et des Chatons (meaning "Men and Kittens," some images may be slightly NSFW) collects photos of buff, handsome, and famous men and lines them up with matching cats.
A young Johnny Depp sitting on a stove for no apparent reason is shown next to a gray short-hair about ready to leap from a counter next to a stove. It's eye candy that satisfies both the desire to stare at hunks and the compelling need to utter the word "Aw!" while viewing cute, fluffy animals. It's almost too much to handle.… Read more

Facebook is acknowledging that most smartphone owners want a broader view of the social-networking universe, not just a window to planet Facebook.

The Home improvement, only available in the Facebook for Android beta application to start, gives application users the option to add streams of content from the third-party, image-rich social services to their smartphone lock screens. The release … Read more
