HTC: Samsung spent money on marketing, not innovation

After watching Samsung Electronics unveil the Galaxy S4, HTC President Jason MacKenzie was feeling pretty good.

Actually, he felt bad -- but for Samsung.

"I went from laughing to actually feeling embarrassed at some of the acting," MacKenzie told CNET.

Samsung chose a unique way to present the Galaxy S4 and its many new features, staging a number of skits to highlight the phone's new capabilities. The theatrics were appropriate given that the event was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

MacKenzie said he believes his HTC One is still ahead of the competition … Read more

Are women on Facebook a bunch of lying liars?

The Telegraph published an article titled "Why women constantly lie about life on Facebook." My first thought was, "Do they really?" I'm a woman on Facebook. I'm not constantly lying about my life.

It turns out the article with the somewhat inflammatory title is about a survey commissioned by Pencourage, a social-media site with where people post anonymous journal-like entries. According to the results, nearly one in four women admitted to exaggerating or lying about key aspects of their lives on social media between one and three times per month. The survey of 2,000 women was conducted by OnePoll.… Read more

A representative from Verizon declined to comment. An HTC representative declined to comment, saying that this falls under rumor and speculation.

AT&T rolling out Jelly Bean to HTC One X

The upcoming HTC One may be top billing, but AT&T hasn't completely forgotten about the One X. The carrier announced today that HTC One X users on its network can now upgrade to Android Jelly Bean.

This is an update a long time coming since the HTC One X+ already runs a fresh helping of Google's mobile operating system. To be clear, the version of this software is Android 4.1 and not the most recent 4.2 Jelly Bean variant you'll find on LG's Nexus 4. Still, a new infusion of code is … Read more

Asus' lovable Windows 8/Android mashup

The Sony Vaio Tap 20 introduced us to the idea of the all-in-one/tablet hybrid device. Asus has taken that concept, slathered it with Asus' particular brand of experimental enthusiasm, and brought it to life in the form of the $1,299 Transformer AIO.

The Transformer AIO, like the Sony Tap 20, shows an effort to offer consumers an intriguing new blend of all-in-one desktop and semiportable tablet. Rather than following Sony's approach of relying on Windows 8's new touch-friendly interface to achieve that mix with a single, seamless piece of hardware, the Transformer AIO essentially gives you … Read more
