Hey guys. If you're listening to this episode and it sounds like Dong and I have been taking hits of helium, I recommend you try downloading the file again. A new, more normal sounding one was just uploaded. Sorry about that! And no, you're not tripping.

Ladies (all five of you) and gentlemen, welcome back to the greatest show on Earth! You could be anywhere else in the world, but you're here with us. And we appreciate it.

Panasonic has a few new DECT 6.0 cordless phones for 2009, including the KX-TG7400 series, which retails for less than $100 for a two-handset package. The main difference between this model and the popular KX-TG6400 series is a larger LCD: the 7400 series has a 2.1-inch LCD while the KX-TG6400 has a 1.8-inch LCD. Also, this model adds "Choice Mail" Selectable Voice Message (a form of visual voice mail) to an already strong feature set.

Sony Handycam DCR-SX60 Quick Take

The Sony Handycam DCR-SX60 is a flash memory-based standard-definition megazoom camcorder. It features the same lens, sensor, and video processing as Sony's hard drive-based Handycam DCR-SR47, which CNET has reviewed.

The SX60 has 16GB of internal flash memory for storage as well as a Memory Stick Pro Duo slot and allows users to record video to either. Compared to hard drive-based models, the use of flash memory allows the camcorder to be extremely compact, more energy efficient, and less prone to failure caused by bumps or drops.

If don't need that much internal storage and want to save … Read more

Attack of the Celerons: Shaving price and performance at once (Compaq CQ60-417DX reviewed)

Editors' note: This review is part of our 2009 Retail Laptop and Desktop Back-to-School roundup, covering specific fixed configurations of popular systems that can be found in retail stores.

One thing we noticed when reviewing the lowest-priced entry-level laptops in our retail roundup was the presence of the Intel Celeron 900 processor. Showing up twice (in the Compaq CQ60-417DX and the Toshiba L305-S5955, discussed below), it's an outdated, poorly performing CPU.

The sneaky thing, however, is that this processor shows up in a chassis that also houses more highly powered machines. Perhaps this downgrading and price-cutting has been inspired … Read more
