In addition to its new M series of budget compact cameras, Kodak announced an ultrazoom compact and a high-megapixel compact for its Z series line of digital cameras on Tuesday.

Both cameras, set to be available this August for about $249, have Kodak's digital-image stabilization feature to assist with camera shake.

No, Samsung reps didn't actually say that at yesterday's launch party for the Q1 Ultra ultra-mobile PC in NYC. But they might as well have. The original Q1, after all, was powered by a plodding Intel Celeron processor, had a battery life that ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 hours, and used a stylus-activated touch screen in lieu of a keyboard. The Q1 was released only in 2006, but customer complaints were enough for Samsung to push out a new device only a year later.

We were pretty stoked when Samsung told us they had a Samsung Ultra Smart F700 that we could actually touch and drool over, but the excitement was short-lived when we found out it wasn't a working model. Samsung gave us a nice surprise today at CTIA, when it showed us the sleek, high-end Ultra Edition phones that it first unveiled at 3GSM last month. In addition to the U700, U600 and U100, Samsung also highlighted the F700 QWERTY phone. It was under glass and devoid of any handy signs detailing its features, but the slider phone is obviously meant for messaging addicts.

Since Samsung made such a big statement at CTIA with the debut of its dual-sided UpStage for Sprint we think the least the company could do is bring us a U.S. version of its Ultra Video as well. The Ultra Video looks like the Upstage, but it features a unique and sexy swivel design that allows you to balance the phone on a table for easy viewing. Sprint kicked off CTIA 2007 today by unveiling the Samsung UpStage, the first U.S. version of the cell phone with the split personality, the Samsung Ultra Music. In an event designed to, ahem, upstage the competition, Sprint said the UpStage (aka the Samsung SPH-M620) would go on sale for $149 with a two-year contract, scheduled for the first week of April.
