Now another Samsung phone joins the family, and it's the Samsung r330 Stride for U.S. Cellular. Yes, it's an entry-level flip phone, but sometimes people just want the basics. It does have Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and a speakerphone, but that's about it. It's only $29.95 with a contract, so it'll go easy on your wallet.
LG recently introduced the LG Mystique for U.S. Cellular. It is essentially the carrier's version of the LG Lotus Elite, the fashionable messaging flip phone for Sprint. As a reminder, it has two displays, with the external one as touch-sensitive, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot that can take up to 16GB cards, EV-DO, a music player, and more.
We were big fans of the Lotus Elite, so we won't be surprised if the Mystique becomes popular with U.S. Cellular customers as well. The Mystique is available now for $80 … Read more
Using its Facebook page to announce the news, the carrier revealed that it will offer the HTC Desire this summer after the device has gone through testing. The Desire, which was introduced at Mobile World Congress 2010, is an Android 2.1 smartphone similar to the Nexus One but with HTC Sense.
In addition to the Desire, U.S. Cellular also teased that it would offer another yet-to-be-named Android device in the future. What could it be?

The LG Wine II was released a few months ago, but we did not have a chance to get a closer look at the phone until CTIA 2010. This overall design is not quite as shiny as its predecessor, the LG Wine, but it still has that basic flip phone form factor. It has a nice and colorful external screen, and the internal display is not too shabby, either. Like its predecessor, the keypad is very spacious with really big keys that are nicely domed for easy dialing and texting. The four shortcut keys have been moved from under the … Read more
If the Samsung Trill looks familiar, we don't blame you. It is almost the spitting image of the Samsung Trance from Verizon Wireless, except for the navigation keys. The Trill is also from U.S. Cellular, so it won't benefit from the Verizon V Cast Music service. Still, it's a pretty good music phone thanks to its affiliation with Bang & Olufsen. It has 3D surround sound technology and we have to say, it offers good music for a relatively simple phone. It also has a 3.5mm headset jack, stereo Bluetooth, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. … Read more
The Samsung Freeform, which was once only available on the slowly disappearing Alltel network, is now available on U.S. Cellular, a regional carrier. The Freeform is a pretty simple messaging phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a 1.3-megapixel camera and a 2.2-inch display, a music player, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, and a microSD card slot that can take up to 16GB cards. We liked the Alltel version of the Freeform, so here's hoping the U.S. Cellular model is just as good.
U.S. Cellular hasn't yet released pricing or availability information.
It seems like only two weeks ago when we last heard from J.D. Power and Associates (Oh look, it was). Now the organization that just can't stop giving out awards has done it again with Verizon Wireless, ranking the carrier the highest among wireless providers in five regions across the United States. According to the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study, Verizon did particularly well in limiting dropped calls, failed connections, and late or failed messages.
More accurately, Verizon scored highest in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and the Southwest. In the West region, … Read more
In case you haven't heard, it's all about unlimited plans these days as both AT&T and Verizon Wireless have revamped their calling and messaging options. And Tuesday, as if to prove it enjoys a challenge, U.S. Cellular unveiled changes of its own.
Beginning January 19, new and existing U.S. Cellular customers can select an individual unlimited voice calling plan for $69.99 per month. Families also get an option with an unlimited voice plan for $119.99 per month. That option includes up to two lines of service, with additional lines at $49.99 … Read more
LAS VEGAS--Anticipating the rapid implementation of cellular technologies, including 3G, 4G, and WiMax, Netgear unveiled two new broadband wireless-N routers at CES 2010 that gear toward cellular broadband markets.
The new routers include the 3G/4G Mobile Broadband Wireless-N router (MBRN300) and the Wireless-N 300 Router with DSL Modem-- Mobile Broadband Edition (DGN2200M).
Lengthy names aside, these two wireless-N routers combine 802.11n wireless with connectivity to a high-speed cellular network via an external 3G/4G/WiMAX modem. The two look identical in shape and size and share a common long list of features for broadband users, such as:Autodetection … Read more
It looks like regional carrier Cellular South has gotten itself a version of the LG Bliss that it's calling the LG Volt 700 (a decidedly less blissful name). It is identical to the Bliss, and has that large 3-inch display, a 2-megapixel camera, 3G, an onscreen keyboard, stereo Bluetooth, a music player, and more. It is available right now for $49.99 after a two-year agreement and a mail-in rebate.
