Angry Birds slingshotting to PS3, XBox 360, Wii

Angry Birds on the big screen? No, a movie deal hasn't been inked yet, but console versions are in the works. According to a BBC blog, Rovio, the developer of the megapopular smartphone game, is hoping to release Angry Birds on the PS3, XBox 360, and Wii next year.

Also in the works: Angry Birds 2. The new game will apparently have more pigs--and they'll be more active.

Nokia Ovi Store hits 3 million daily downloads

Nokia's Ovi Store has officially hit 3 million downloads per day.

The Finnish mobile phone maker attributed the new milestone to higher global demand for its apps and new smartphones sporting the more user-friendly Symbian 3 operating system.

In late September, Nokia began shipping its N8 smartphone, its first to run under Symbian 3, followed a couple of weeks later by the second Symbian 3 phone, the C7. The new version of Symbian has brought with it a greater variety of new apps in the Ovi Store.

Microsoft to drop 3D, plug-in need in Bing Maps

Microsoft has taken the covers off a future update to its Bing Maps service that removes the need for its Silverlight browser plug-in to view an alternate mapping layer, and has also announced that it plans to remove its 3D map viewer. Angry Birds goes goth at midnight

Attention, Angry Birds fans! According to the game's maker Rovio, Angry Birds: Halloween should be hitting Apple's App Store tonight at midnight your local time.

The game is exclusive to Apple's iOS platform, with a regular version for iPhones and iPod Touches at 99 cents, and an HD version for iPads for $1.99.
