Microsoft could help Nokia sell 37 million phones in 2012

Betting heavily on Microsoft to revive its fortunes, Nokia is in a position to sell as many as 37 million Windows Phone handsets this year and 64 million in 2013, says a Morgan Stanley report cited by AllThingsD.

Of course, much of that forecast depends on just how hard Microsoft will work to promote its partnership with Nokia.

The two companies already reportedly plan to spend $20 million to market their new lineup. Nokia has been pushing its Lumia phones, with the 710 now available through T-Mobile, the 800 selling in Europe, and the LTE-compliant 900 sailing to the U.… Read more

Nokia's CES signage remains coy, for now

At this point, Nokia has little to hide.

Rumors, leaks, and an anonymous confirmation from two New York Times sources has let the Nokia Lumia 900 "Ace" come rushing out of the bag.

In truth, the proverbial bag was pretty wide open anyway. The global release of the Lumia 800 at Nokia World last fall set the expectation of a CES announcement for the U.S. version; its absence at this show would result in shock and disappointment.… Read more

LTE-ready Nokia Lumia 900 'Ace' details spill ahead of CES

It's no secret that the U.S. version of the Nokia Lumia 800 will make its debut at CES this month. There's also little doubt that the Lumia 900, as it's widely expected to be called, will come packed with two important goodies that the global version lacked: LTE support and a front-facing camera.

Our friends over at Pocketnow.com got their eyeballs on a few more details as well: the Lumia 900 (code name: Eloko) will come with a 4.3-inch WVGA display instead of the Lumia 800's 3.7-incher. It will also feature an 8-megapixel camera (of course) and an 1,830mAh battery.

That's not all; a few days after the leak reached our ears, The New York Times also pitched in its confirmation of the Lumia 900, through two sources who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

Although Nokia will announce the phone next week, the word on the street is that the Windows phone won't hit AT&T stores until March.… Read more

Microsoft, Nokia pour $200M into Windows Phone push, report says

Microsoft and Nokia are ready to back the money truck up for Windows Phone.

That's according to Windows IT Pro, which reported today that the companies are planning to spend $200 million on marketing in the U.S. to promote the upcoming lineup of phones.

The significant surge in spending underscores the importance of making a splash in the market, particularly from a phone brand that has faded over the past few years and a software partner that lacks the cool factor of its younger competitors. While T-Mobile USA has the first Nokia Windows Phone with the mid-tier Lumia … Read more
