Cut & Carve

Joseph Joseph's Cut & Carve at Delight.com just grabbed my attention this morning, and it seems absolutely brilliant (not to mention gorgeously simply designed, and those subtle spikey nubs to hold the things which may try to slip and slide while you chop and carve - yes, steak, i'm thinking of you...) and at $25 a fun gift for the kitchen gadget lovers on your list. Also, notice that subtle slant, to help you keep those delicious juices which may overflow... or to get the crumbs away from your bread without having them all over your counter? More images after the jump of this low tech kitchen accessory in action with bread, tomatoes, and a close up!

Starting this week, the 60GB PS3 will retail for $500, the same price as the now-defunct 20GB PS3. If you had your heart set on spending $600 on a PlayStation 3, have no fear; the price drop makes room for the new 80GB PS3 bundle Sony also announced today. Taking the 60GB … Read more

Pending PS3 price cut?

The Sony PlayStation 3 is an impressive piece of equipment, but its price has put off a lot of gamers. After all, $600 is a lot to sink into a video game console, even if it doubles as Blu-ray disc player. Fortunately, the PS3 might be seeing its very first price cut in a week or two.

Earlier this week, Kotaku reported a rumor that the PlayStation 3 would be getting a $100 price drop. Sony President Ryoji Chubachi said Sony has "no plans" to lower the PS3 price tag, but GameDaily said it received confirmation of the … Read more

Sony lops $100 off Blu-ray player price tag

Well that was quick.

Back in February, Sony said the Blu-ray player to be released this summer would sell for $599. On Monday, Sony said the BDP-S300, which is now shipping, will actually sell for $499 instead. The latest version is slimmer than the original, but with many of the same features.

Considering that the original Sony Blu-ray player, the BDP-S1, was released just six months ago for $1,000, that's a pretty swift price drop. Though Sony attributed the price cut to lower production costs and higher demand for the Blu-ray technology, it's also an indication that … Read more

Sony PSP gets $30 price cut

After failing to keep up with Nintendo's DS juggernaut, Sony promised it would do a better job marketing the PSP, and now it appears that push is fully underway with a $30 price cut to the PSP Core Pack, the base system. That brings the PSP's MSRP to $169.99, or $80 less than the system's launch price of two years ago.

According to a press release that went out today, Sony's also modified the pricing structure for the system's software, with "first-party PSP software priced using a new tiered model--$39.99 (premium … Read more

PlayStation 3 price cuts already? That's what Sony may be eyeing in a bid to break even on the console by the end of fiscal 2008.

According to the Associated Press, Sony senior vice president Takao Yuhara said that while no specific plans have been made, the company is considering reducing the price as a way to boost sales. "We may look at the price as part of our strategy to expand the market when the timing is right," Yuhara said.

Sony had already reduced the price of the PS3 in Japan prior to launch. But with … Read more

An LED BFD

The future of light is plastic, says Cyberlux.

The company, which specializes in light emitting diodes (LEDs, will come out with prototypes of a new type of white light LEDs in about four months that will cost substantially less to manufacture than conventional LEDs and provide more light at the same time.

In conventional white light LEDs, a semiconductor emits blue light. The blue light passes through the phosphor and becomes white light. The phosphor is thin film on a substrate; the substrate has to be placed in intricate proximity to the semiconductor. Positioning the phosphor is one of the … Read more

Samsung cuts prices on latest MP3 lines

Samsung has been pretty consistent with putting out quality MP3 players, but its two newest devices--the YP-K5 and the YP-T9--really take the cake in my book. They're super sleek, packed with features, and sound fantastic. That's why both players top my holiday wish and gift lists this year. And it looks like I just got lucky: Samsung recently dropped the MSRP of both players. The YP-K5 has gone from $260 to $229 for the 4GB version and from $210 to $179 for the 2GB. The YP-T9 has dropped from $199 to $179 4GB and from $149 to $… Read more
