'Nano-projector' promised for next year

We're still waiting built-in projectors to become standard fare for mobile phones but, until then, maybe something like this item will make projectors truly portable. The "Oio," described as "the first truly mobile and fully operational nano-projector," is made by Israeli company Explay.

MobileWhack didn't include specs but said the tiny device was displayed at an annual conference of the Society of Information Display in Long Beach, Calif. It's also scheduled for release next year, unless we all end up getting video glasses that turn us into Borgs first.

Sony releases its noise-canceling answer to the iPod Nano

Sony's NW-S705F Noise Canceling MP3 player is now on sale in the U.S. for about $199 for 2GB version and $169 for 1GB. You may remember when Crave reported on Sony's announcement of this player back in October. The big hullabaloo is that the NW-S705F has active noise-cancellation integrated into the player. Before you get too excited, the active noise-cancellation system will still require you to use Sony's proprietary earbuds. If we were running Japan's Run-At, we'd be cranking out Disney-branded products everyday--not to compete on the current market, but to be sold as collectibles later on. It's well known, of course, that fanatics will shell out big bucks for all things Mickey, so why not cater to that set?

Target sells pre-owned iPods

Borrowing a page from computer resellers, Target is selling previously owned iPods, including some of those in the latest colors. It's unclear where exactly these players came from, but Target says they've all been "quality tested." In any case, as Chip Chick points out, it's a chance to try one out at a good price if you've been holding out for them to get cheaper.

Snoopy does the iPod

We admit it: We're suckers for Peanuts. Especially around the holidays, when we get to hear the Vince Guaraldi Trio everywhere. It's one of the few childhood memories we have that doesn't involve getting beaten up by our older brothers.

Practically every other day we see a new article of clothing that can support the iPod. So why not actually make clothes out of the iPod itself? Apparently someone has finally made a reality out of that logical extreme.

After all the hype over Bono, Oprah, and the red iPod Nano, we thought we were done with it for at least a little while. Silly us.

Underscoring the unmatched marketing prowess of Steve Jobs once again, the crimson Nano will be getting another round of press--and the addition of an 8GB model--as it makes its debut on Apple's online store today. As you'll recall, $10 of each sale will be designated for Bono's (Product) Red campaign against AIDS in Africa.

The only question is whether any will be left if Oprah places another order.
