New single: Gnarls Barkley 'Run'

Drum roll, please. America's most intriguing and addictive collaborations to emerge in the last 2 years is back. And, just when we thought we had finally got rid of the song "Crazy" from the brain, now we got "Run" to worry about. The track sounds straight out of the swingin' 60s -- bearing the same kind of excitement as early James Brown or like the peak song in a great musical. Theatrical as it may be, it's still contemporary (yet addicting) thanks to Cee-lo's hefty soul shouts and Danger Mouse forward thinking production style.

Gnarls Barkley new album suitably entitled, The Odd Couple is set for release in April. Check out the new single "Run" plus the classics and mind tripping videos that made this odd couple so hip and love able. … Read more

Combo mouse-game controller for Lilliputians

The dubiously named Genius brand occasionally hits upon a good idea like its Bluetooth headphones with touch-sensitive controls, but it always seems to lapse back into its penchant for uselessness with something like a hybrid speaker-camera. Its latest entry, unfortunately, comes closer to the latter category.

Evergreen is distributing the "Genius Navigator 365" mouse, which is really a clamshell that opens up to reveal a tiny game controller, according to Engadget. It almost looks as if Genius had a few spare VoIP phone-mouse cases lying around and didn't want them going to waste.

Lite-On lets you mold your own mouse

Just when we thought innovation was dead, up pops Lite-On with a genuinely interesting concept. Meet the Moldable Mouse--a peripheral you can sculpt into whatever shape you can imagine.

Instead of you having to contort your hands to the shape of the mouse, the Moldable Mouse conforms to the shape of your hands--great news for lefties and people with superfluous fingers. You simply press it into your preferred shape, then gradually tweak it until it feels like an extension of your hand. Or something rude.

Unlike ordinary mice, which use hard plastics, the Moldable Mouse is made of non-toxic, … Read more

A mouse that doubles as a remote

The poor mouse. Apparently it needs to come up with more functions by the day to stave off extinction. Already they make phone calls, balance the checkbook, keep us warm, print labels, give massages, and even try to save jobs. They do everything but cook dinner (so far).

And yet we demand more. So once again, the selfless peripheral has stepped up with another function, this one as a remote control. It's not the first remote-mouse combo, but GeekAlerts says this one is wireless, which is everything when used for multimedia presentations. We just hope it'll work on … Read more

A blow-up mouse for the lonely nerd

Now why didn't we think of this? While the lonely at heart have their inflatable dolls, here's a blow-up mouse for the dateless geek. You can not only snuggle up to it, but you can actually put it to use. Not that kind of use.

Designers Bongkun Shin, Heungkyo Seo, Jiwoong Hwang & Wooteik Lim did intend for this to be a working mouse and packed electronic circuity on a small flexible board within the Jelly Click. So all you need to do to use this is blow it up, attach the USB cable, and click. It's … Read more

'Phantom Mouse' might save your job

Some people (not us, of course) might think that this is the best invention since the "StealthSwitch." That ingenius device, as you'll recall, has a foot-operated switch that instantly hides whatever is on your screen when your boss happens to walk by at the most inopportune times.

The "Phantom Mouse" improves that concept by doing the same thing with a red emergency button that sits directly above the scroll wheel, according to Newlaunches. That way you won't have to frantically stomp around under your desk looking for a switch.

It's being marketed in … Read more

When the mouse is your therapist too

Of all the computer gear on the desktop, the mouse is clearly the most nurturing. After all, what other peripheral gives massages and keeps you warm?

So this latest feature seems like a natural progression: reducing stress. That, at least, is the claim made by U.K.-based Hot Forest Technology, whose "SensDevice" mouse supposedly monitors its user's stress levels through built-in biofeedback technology such as electrodes that make contact with the skin. When the system detects that you're about to freak, according to Shiny Shiny, it recommends certain stress-relieving exercises that are appropriate for the … Read more

Combo mouse phone for desperate situations

This is one of those gadgets that has Maxwell Smart written all over it. With all the mouse phones available today--or even keyboard phones, for that matter--it's beyond us why anyone would want this silly-looking model with a microphone sticking out of it like a mutant appendage. Its saving grace, if it can be called that, is that it costs only $16, according to SlashGear. But we'd just as soon use the money to make a regular cell call.

Mouse pays proper respect to lefties

Just to be clear, we don't have anything against specialty mice--quite the contrary, actually. We just like to see features that make sense, such as this model made specifically for lefties.

It's obviously not the first mouse of its kind, but most of the ones we've seen are made to be used by the ambidextrous. And we think that's a two-handed slap in the face to natural southpaws. On the other hand (OK, we'll stop), the awesomely named "Cherry Ergo-Shark" is made for only for left-handed mousers, a wireless navigator with seven … Read more

Samsung's tiny trackball mouse

The proliferation of ill-advised combo products has prompted us to adopt a "less is more" philosophy in most cases. And that's even more appropriate for gadgets that seem almost too small to adequately handle even their primary functions--such Samsung's latest mini-mouse.

Its "M30 Duplus Mouse" is "a pocket-size trackballer with a wireless USB connection system, a laser pointer, and remote controller capabilities," according to Everything USB. As we noted more than a year ago, earlier versions already looked too small to be used comfortably, even without such additional features. In the new … Read more
