LaCie 2big Thunderbolt series review: Just about right

LaCie has been known to give its tech products a touch of fashion, and the 2big Thunderbolt Series is no exception.

The device looks good and sturdy, resembling the rest of the 2big family, including the already reviewed 2big USB 3.0.

The biggest difference from the previous models is that it has two Thunderbolt ports on the back that take the place of any other connection types, so no USB, FireWire, or eSATA.… Read more

"The Sony DS?" That was my first choice for the headline of this piece, but I felt it was a bit too cute and somewhat misleading.

No, it's not the Sony DS, but it does have dual screens, but do dual screens improve or hinder the tablet experience?

Design The first thing you'll notice about the Sony Tablet P is the dual-screen, hinge-based design that allows the tablet to be compacted, like a clam shell.… Read more

Great games for iOS to get you through the long weekend

Here at CNET we're about to start a three-day weekend thanks to Presidents Day on Monday. If you're lucky enough to have an extra day this weekend, what better way to waste a little time than with a solid new game? There have been a lot of great game releases lately, and this week I've picked games from various genres in the hope that you can find something you like.

This week's iOS app collection is all about new games to play over the long weekend. The first is a physics puzzler sequel that's extremely polished and very hard to put down. The second uses your music library to drive the shoot-'em-up action on screen. The third is a platforming game sequel that truly tests your arcade gaming skills.… Read more

Shoot to the beat

Beat Hazard Ultra is a unique dual-stick arcade shooter that uses music from your music library to create the pace of the game. Each song in your music library has a unique rhythm and flow and as the power builds in a song, Beat Hazard Ultra sends more enemies for you to blow away. Even if you have no music on your iOS device, the game lets you choose from several Internet radio stations to stream the musical backdrop of the game. The graphics are worthy of note, too; this game has so many blinking lights and colors that there'… Read more

RMB refers to the Chinese currency.

RMB 1,000 is about 75 percent less than the price of an iPhone 4S, which currently retails for RMB 4,988 in China.

"That's a pretty exciting … Read more

LG's Dual Play gets serious with split-screen gaming

LG wants to bring the joy of split screen gaming back--minus the cheating that inevitably goes with it--with its Dual Play technology.

Split-screen gaming has enabled players to compete against each other on the same machine since the early days of consoles, popularized by games such as the original "Goldeneye."

LG's passive Dual Play mode, available on 2012 TVs with passive 3D, enables two people to play on the same screen and is presumably compatible with any console game that includes a top-bottom split screen. With LG's Dual Play enabled and the special Dual Play glasses, … Read more
