SkiTech review: Kombi ski gloves and mittens

While ski technology has dramatically improved over the years, there's one area that still leaves me cold: gloves. I have very poor circulation in my hands, resulting in freezing hands unless I wear mittens.

I like the added control that gloves give me, however, so I was excited to try out three different gloves from Kombi Sports. Of the different brands we reviewed, Kombi's gloves may well go farthest in seriously pushing the envelope in technology and design.

The Kombi gloves also include nice touches like the nose wipe (Sounds funny until you're on the slopes and then you discover what a necessity this little bit of fabric technology is...) and a generally lightweight feel without offering lightweight protection from the cold.

'Cooling glove' beats the heat

The contraption displayed here may look like some kind of ill-conceived device from the days of bloodletting, but it's actually a physiological instrument for the 21st century. "CoreControl" is described as a "cooling glove" that increases the flow of blood to the palm's "radiator zone" and lowers the body's overall tempurature two to five times faster than ice packs, fans and other traditional methods.

'Roboglove' may help finger crooks

If we didn't know better (and we don't), we might think this was based on an old Monty Python skit.

U.K. newspapers are reporting the development of the "Roboglove," a wearable device that can supposedly detect weapons hidden on subjects while they're being searched. If the glove touches a concealed firearm, knife or other metal object, Gearfuse says, it will vibrate and alert its wearer of the discovery.
