Pauli Sauce Pot claims you'll never burn another sauce

When I was first learning how to cook, I burnt my fair share of sauces. And stews. And beans. And most other things I tried to cook. You get the idea. Put a guy with no experience and no formal training into the kitchen and see what happens. Chances are not very good that the resulting dishes will be very edible. I (almost) always ate what I made and learned from my mistakes. One of the first lessons I learned was not to turn the burner all the way up for everything. Seems like common sense now, but then common … Read more

A slow cooker for your fast-paced life.

This time of year, I hear that much of the country suffers from a season called "winter." Here in Houston, we bundle up when the temperature drops below 70, so I feel your pain. To get through these cold, dark days, consider adding a slow cooker to your kitchen appliance stash.

The Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 comes with--wait for it--three separate crocks in 2-, 4-, and 6-quart sizes. Why would you want such a thing? Allow me to explain.

We're a family of six here at our house, and four of those are kids under 10, so the … Read more

The sugar pot that wobbles but doesn't fall

On the surface, sugar pots seem like simple things. Their purpose is to just hold sugar. However, the Pylones Tumbler Sugar Pot makes adding a little sweetness to your tea fun. This hand-painted sugar pot is silver and black with a smiling face on top--and its black rubber bottom lets it wobble a bit when you set it down, without it falling over. You can easily fill the sugar pot with plenty of sugar and, when you're ready to use it, you can easily pour as much as you want through the metal pour spout--which doubles as the crown … Read more

The 404 171: Where we're on the RIGHT coast

Quick health update: Wilson is doing well and is on the miracle, three-day, cure-all Z-Pack. MTI fills in for another awesome show where we cut into our fillet of coastal beef, hook up a few treadmills to World of Warcraft, tell a turtle to stop snitching, and give you a Justin PSYu update. I'll give you a hint: it's in monochrome.

My favorite story on today's show involves a research turtle that accidentally stumbled upon a marijuana field in in our nation's capitol. The little guy was walking around with a GPS transmitter strapped to his … Read more

The 404 153: Where we get over it

On the show today: Guest Alex Green shows us his Web site "GET OVER IT", Space Beer T-shirts, 404 Dark Knight Meetup Wrap-up, Pussy Natural Energy Drink, Monster of Montauk, and Seth Rogan on the pot.

Last night's 404 meet up to see the Dark Knight was a resounding success! Our buddies showed up well before the movie and we chewed the fat for awhile. Big thanks and much appreciation goes out to Issac and Matt (the Intern) for dropping by to say hi. We missed you in the theater dudes! No surprise or complaint here, but … Read more

The 404 132: Where CBS is brought to you by The 404

Today's show is all about answering the questions that nobody is asking. These questions include: Is "doing the robot" considered cheating? If California legalizes marijuana, will we need to find a new co-host? Is the vibrating iPhone keypad a curse or a blessing in disguise? When will Amy Winehouse evolve into a Homo sapiens? How can we stop the Ninja Turtles from stealing our precious metals? Do the Netflix executives listen to The 404? Is there a problem that can't be solved with Viagra? All this and much much more, now brought to you by CBS … Read more

Headphones that belong in the sink

Zumreed is a Japanese brand with a design sense that's as strange as its name. It popped up on Crave last year with its colorful droplet-shaped speakers, but it's probably best known for its fashion-conscious headphones. Its latest creation, however, is just plain bizarre. The "Sfit Jewelry Edition" has the unfortunate distinction of bearing "286 high-quality colorful studs" on its ear cans, for what purpose we have absolutely no idea. They're described as "smart, slim, style" headphones, but they look a lot more like pot scrubbers or perhaps some kind of … Read more

Diamond-studded pan redefines haute cuisine

Here's one for the wedding registry: a gold-and-diamond-studded pot that carries a price tag just north of $200,000. The 11-inch saucepan from cookware manufacturer Fissler features almost 2.2 pounds of solid gold in its lid and side handles and logo. But what's gold without diamonds? The saucepan features 200 of them, in various sizes. It also comes packaged in a jewelry box made of root wood and accompanied by the appropriate quality certificate.

The costly cookware is not exactly being mass-produced: Each saucepan is handmade to order in Germany and available only to "the exclusive … Read more
