High-end watchmaker Tag Heuer showed off its redesigned F1-themed watch at the Basel World watch show recently. The Tag Heuer Formula 1 comes with an orange, red, silver, or black dial in its chronograph version. The standard watch version has a black, red, or white dial. Luminescent numbers let you see the time during night driving, and it's water-resistant to 200 meters for, well, if you go plunging into the ocean during a fast drive along the Cote D'Azur. Continuing today's theme of ridiculous luxury items is, of all things, a high-performance mouse pad. In what could easily be a parody, BornRich says the English-made "Formula 1 Mouse Mat" was designed with "state-of-the-art automotive 3D modeling software." The carbon-fiber pad has inlaid leather with Italian suede backing and, of course, a prominently embossed "F1" logo. The price for a racetrack-grade mouse pad? It lists for 260 pounds, or about $525. But it comes wrapped in F1 tissue paper, so it's not overpriced or anything.
Honda's Formula One racing team is to forgo millions of dollars in sponsorship revenue this season by replacing the valuable advertising real-estate on its cars' exteriors with an image of the Earth. The cars, which last year sported decals promoting eco-unfriendly Lucky Strike cigarettes, will this year be adorned with a huge blue and green environmentally inspired graphic.
