Too many similarities

Kool-Fox promises users to be a new browser based on the popular Firefox browser. This sleek program admires Firefox so much, users must ask what this download provides that the original article does not.

This freeware program's interface will instantly look familiar to Firefox users. With similar fonts and layout, Kool-Fox's few changes will create no confusion. The biggest difference is the enlarged, cartoonish icons for restarting a page, going to the home page, bookmarks and browsing history. In addition, local weather is embedded into the browser screen. A sidebar offers most of the same options to look … Read more

Western Digital goes greener with new enterprise hard drive

Western Digital has been using its GreenPower technology in most of its consumer-grade hard drives, including those in the My Book World Edition NAS server and the My Book Mirror Edition external hard drive.

The company turned its hard drives' green levels up a notch on Monday with the new WD RE4-GP hard drive. The drive is designed to work best for data center and digital video production facilities.

According to Western Digital, these are the two applications where a big number of hard drives are used and therefore would show a significant improvement in energy savings.

The WD RE4-GP … Read more

Rolls-Royce 200EX/RR4 gets a spooky moniker

When Rolls-Royce unveiled its new model to the public at the 2009 Geneva auto show, its badge read "200EX Concept." Internally, it's known as the RR4. However, neither RR4 or 200EX are monikers befitting a vehicle the follows the Spirit of Ecstasy everywhere it goes. So what will Rolls-Royce call its smaller, stronger model?

Announced at the 2009 Shanghai auto show, Rolls-Royce will call the new model the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Here's what Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Tom Purves has to say about it:

We are delighted to formally announce the Rolls-Royce Ghost. It is one of

Will the iPhone ever come to Verizon?

Rumors have circulated since Apple's iPhone was first launched that Verizon Wireless might get its own version of the popular device. But will the elusive iPhone ever come to Verizon's network?

Maybe. Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg hinted that Verizon might offer the iPhone on its 4G wireless network, which the company plans to start building next year, in an interview with Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal. Specifically, Seidenberg said that if Verizon were to offer the iPhone, it would most likely be available on its 4G wireless network rather than on the current CDMA-based cell phone … Read more

Alltel gets Moto Evoke

It's been only two weeks since CTIA, but many of the new phones introduced at the show are already going on sale. AT&T picked up the Samsung Impression, Samsung Propel Pro, and LG Xenon, and Thursday Alltel announced it would have the Motorola Evoke QA4.

The Evoke was Moto's sole new phone at CTIA. The touch-screen handset doesn't offer a whole lot new, but it has its attractions just the same. The handset is a reasonable $79 with service.

In case you didn't catch our coverage from CTIA, the Moto has a slider design … Read more

Book lover's dream

Book Collector allows people to catalog their book collections and seek out specific titles using a variety of methods. While this program's appeal is limited, those who need such software will be impressed.

This program starts users off with a sample book collection, allowing them to experiment and get a feel before inputting their own books. The interface is plain but easy to follow. Building your collection is as simple as entering the ISBN number. From there a picture of the book cover appears along with a brief description and other publishing details. If your book was published before … Read more

Flawed task timer

There are a million reasons why computer users time themselves. Whether they are poor time managers, have an important appointment to keep, or need to track time spent on a task, there certainly is a need for TimeRecorder. However, that simple task is made too complicated by this flawed download.

TimeRecorder's simplistic interface looks a bit outdated, but allows users to record time spent on specific tasks. Users can even set a reminder to alert them when they have been working on a project too long. In addition, users are able to catalog their time and save a log, … Read more
