Take this slow cooker to the party

One thing any real cook likes to do is share. Just try finding a recipe out there that "serves one." It's not going to happen. Consider the egg. A primary ingredient in many recipes, however, you never see "half an egg" called for. It's just easier to cook for more people. Therefore, it is second nature for cooks to want to share; we always have too much food around!

Sometimes sharing requires a little more effort than simply constructing a delicious meal. If there is a party in the planning, a meal has to … Read more

Philips GoGear Spark MP3 player review: adorable and affordable

The GoGear Spark is the first MP3 player we've seen from Philips in years that isn't a study in mediocrity. In fact, the little Oreo cookie-size MP3 player is downright adorable, and a decent bargain at $49 (2GB) or $59 (4GB).

The Spark includes a music player (MP3, WMA), photo viewer, FM radio, and voice recorder. In light of its size and price tag, however, the Spark's most unique feature is its 1.5-inch color screen--an asset dearly lacking from competitors such as the iPod Shuffle or Sansa Clip. The Spark also uses a unique pressure-sensitive screen … Read more

Super Bowl dilemma: Are the ads worth the price?

Three million dollars to make a 30-second pitch? You might as well sail a Hail Mary pass into the end zone and hope for the best.

But even though Super Bowl 43 takes place against a backdrop darkened by an economic recession and rising unemployment, executives involved with current and previous Super Bowl advertising spots remained convinced that Sunday's game offers a potential payoff that outweighs any attendant risks.

"We wouldn't be doing it if we didn't think it would work," said Warren Adelman, the president and Chief Operating Officer of Internet registrar GoDaddy.com. … Read more

The GoPro Hero Motorsports Wide is a vehicle-mounted camera system that lets enthusiasts' quickly record video and take still photographs of a vehicle in motion.

The GoPro Hero immediately won me over with its simplicity and value. I had an absolute blast finding interesting mounting locations for testing on various vehicles. I even took it on a cross-country road trip where, sadly, the only thing I … Read more

GoStereo Tune In Tune Out: Headphones and speakers in one

An MP3 player is mostly a personal music device, but it also provides a great way to share music with others or even--in a pinch--satisfy your home stereo needs. To satisfy both the personal- and public-listening experiences, logic dictates you need two separate gadgets: a pair of headphones and a set of speakers. Or you could pick up GoStereo's Tune In Tune Out Headphones, which combine the two into one handy, simple device.

The headphones sound about average and the speaker quality is only so-so, but the superfair price of $50 for a 2-in-1 product makes the whole concept … Read more
