Hey, nice to meetcha! What did you say your name is again? Golly, I'm so bad with names. Actually, can you take a photo of yourself with my phone so I don't have to be bothered to remember you? Thanks!

If that sounds obnoxious or just plain stupid to you, you've been warned. It may become a common greeting if the latest app from Evernote, the company intent on "becoming everyone's second brain," takes off.

If associating names with faces is too taxing for you, Evernote Hello is a free iPhone tool that will relieve your neurons.

When you meet someone, you ask him or her to take a face photo on your phone with the front-facing camera, and enter name and e-mail information in Evernote Hello. Your new contact will receive an e-mail with your info.

How to share Evernote notebooks with Android

Evernote's Android app can now share notebooks, just like the desktop version. Here's how:

Step 1: Make sure you have the latest version of Evernote from the Android Market.

Step 2: Launch Evernote and go to your notebooks.

Step 3: Long press on a notebook you want to share and when the pop-up box appears, select "Sharing Settings."

Step 4: In the "Sharing settings" section, choose whether to make your notebook public, or share them with specific people.

Evernote launches soothing article reader

The note-taking powerhouse Evernote is launching a pleasant little browser plug-in, Clearly, that gives you a clean, story-only view of what you're reading in Chrome (today) or Firefox (later). Safari users, Apple already gave you this. It's called the Reader view.

Clearly also lets you clip your article to your Evernote notebook, which is kind of nice. My readers know I'm an Evernote junkie, and I've been using Evernote as a quasi-bookmarking service anyway. Evernote acquires Mac drawing app Skitch

Online note-taking specialist Evernote has acquired Skitch, a Mac app for annotating photos and otherwise editing images, and plans to dramatically expand the software's availability.

For starters, Evernote is making the $20 app free. In addition, "We are committed, not only to making the Skitch Mac app more awesome, but also to bringing Skitch to every desktop and mobile platform under the sun," Evernote's Andrew Sinkov said in a blog post today.

That expansion begins with Skitch's first mobile app, a free download for Android, Evernote said.

Evernote raises $50M to help become your 'second brain'

The popular note-taking service Evernote today announced it has raised $50 million in a new round of funding by Sequoia Capital and Morgenthaler Ventures to develop a growth and acquisition strategy.

"Even though we've built a profitable and successful business in the past three years, we still have a long way to go to achieve our goal of becoming everyone's second brain," Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote said in a statement.

Ken Gullicksen, vice president of corporate development of Evernote, will head the development and acquisition strategy.
