Logitech intros new iPad/Android Tablet Speaker

Logitech, which makes plenty of PC speakers, has now moved into the tablet arena with the aptly named Logitech Tablet Speaker.

In case you're wondering, this isn't a Bluetooth speaker. It actually clips on to your tablet and has a jack that plugs into the headphone port.

While it isn't wireless, at least it doesn't require a power adapter: the built-in rechargeable battery drives the speaker for up to 8 hours and charges via USB.

We got a quick look and listen to the speaker at a recent Logitech preview event and it certainly offered better … Read more

$20 Logitech Harmony 200 universal remote hits Radio Shack

If you thought $30 was too much to spend for a universal remote control, I've got good news: Logitech just released one that's 33 percent cheaper.

The new Logitech Harmony 200 looks to be a slightly downsized version of the Harmony 300, which first debuted in the spring of 2010. The new model controls three devices instead of four, and it loses a handful of buttons (the five channel favorites, track up/down, and "live" keys found on the 300 have been ditched). Otherwise, the 200 is programmed with the same Web-based software wizard found on … Read more

Logitech's keyboard case out for Galaxy Tab 10.1

Logitech is putting a new spin on its Zagg wireless keyboard case by offering a version made specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The handy case/keyboard combo is currently available for preorder, and is due out in September for $99.

I've had some hands-on time with the case and can safely say that it is more than just a reshaped version of the iPad 2 case. There are more than a few shortcut keys that are specific to the Google Android Honeycomb OS. Across the top you'll find buttons for cut, paste, voice command, e-mail, and more.

Like the iPad 2 version, though, the case can be used as a stand to prop up your tablet in either portrait or landscape orientation. The keyboard works wirelessly over Bluetooth and recharges an internal battery over Micro-USB. To really get that mobile office experience, Logitech also offers an Android tablet Bluetooth mouse.

If you're a Tab 10.1 fan with some serious typing to do, I definitely recommend giving this a try. It's not as broadly practical as a generic Bluetooth keyboard, but the dedicated Android keys and the added advantage of protecting your tablet screen make it a great solution. … Read more

Logitech K750 Solar Keyboard review: Eco-conscious innovation, low-profile design

Logitech calls its $79 Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 an innovation in typing technology, and after using our evaluation model for a week, we certainly agree. The dual solar panels mounted on top of the superthin keyboard require zero user effort to keep the device charged and ready to type, and its low-profile keycaps and glossy black mirrored finish make it appear more like a laptop keyboard than its desktop counterparts.

Logitech's Google TV box matches Apple TV at $99

When it was released last year, Google TV was touted as the next big thing. However, things haven't panned out quite as planned. The service has had a rough go of it, with buggy software and networks blocking access to content. But don't count it for dead quite yet.

Logitech, one of Google's partners in the launch of Google TV has slashed the price of its Revue with Google TV system from $249 to $99, matching the price of Apple TV and Roku's new Roku 2 XS. On top of the price drop, Logitech says the more affordable box will be upgradeable to Version 2 of Google TV that includes Android Market later this summer.

Here's what Logitech had to say in a short statement: … Read more

Logitech's Google TV debacle drags down earnings

Logitech last night reported a disappointing quarter and named an interim CEO. The company's Google TV experiment is one of the reasons why.

Granted, Logitech can't blame Google TV completely. After all, the company is in the crosshairs as PC sales remain anemic. Logitech makes peripherals that take a hit when PCs aren't flying off the shelves.

But Logitech's well-documented Google TV woes aren't helping matters much. About a year ago, Logitech made a big bet on Google TV to be a digital home player. Its flagship product was the Revue (CNET review). Now the … Read more

Crave giveway: Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard

We met with Logitech the other day to see some of the company's upcoming products (sorry, we can't tell you about them yet, but there's some cool stuff coming), and the folks there offered to give away one of Logitech's nifty new solar-powered wireless keyboards for Windows users, the K750.

What's cool about the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard is that it recharges the internal batteries with ambient light (standard indoor lights) and doesn't require direct sunlight.

Here's what editor Justin Yu had to say about it a few months back (see full post here):

Logitech tells us that a full solar charge can power the keyboard for at least three months, and a convenient on/off button conserves energy while it's not being used. Additionally, the company also includes a copy of the Logitech desktop Solar App with a lux meter that offers quick information about battery levels, drain alerts, and placement tips on where to pick up the most power.

Normally, the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard would cost around $79.99, but you have the chance to get it gratis. … Read more
