It's official: Flash MP3 players are taking over. SanDisk has just announced a new version of the Sansa View...one with 32GB of built-in flash memory. Ah, it makes me nostalgic--remember the days of 30GB hard-drive MP3 players? Oh, right, those still exist. The player isn't far off, either: the expected launch date is in February of this year. You may recognize the name Sansa View, but that's about all SanDisk's new video MP3 player has in common with the original View announced at CES. SanDisk essentially went back to the drawing board, which is why it's taken so long for the official View to surface. Last week, SanDisk announced a price drop on the Sansa Connect, the company's WiFi-compatible MP3 player. SanDisk has knocked an impressive $100 off the original MSRP, bringing the 4GB device down to a reasonable $149.99. The price drop is strategic, coinciding with the impending start of the school year. Regardless, it's a wise move for SanDisk, as many potential users were no doubt turned off by the initially high price point. The new tag makes the wireless player a great value.
