LG LX600 to debut soon for Sprint?

This squat little device is purportedly the new LG LX600 for Sprint, set to debut some time in the near future. An intrepid user on the SprintUsers.com forum found this image online, and it sure looks convincing to me. The LX600 is actually a clamshell that opens up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.

Like the Blitz, the LX600 is a "dumb" phone made just for messaging. It also has external music player keys for the built-in music player, as well as a camera, but there doesn't seem to be too much information about the other … Read more

Epson's new line of printers for small-business owners

Monday marked a milestone for Epson printers, as the company revealed a new line of all-in-one and photo printers designed for the small- to medium-size business consumer.

The two single-function WorkForce 30 and 40s, as well as the higher-end WorkForce 500 and 600 all-in-ones, promise to deliver speed, quality, and utility in an attractive package. Judging from the initial pictures, the WorkForce 600, the new line's flagship model, appears to have a comprehensive set of buttons on the faceplate surrounding its 2.5-inch LCD screen.

According to the release, the 600 is both speedy and efficient, capable of printing … Read more

A label printer that's hip and square

Forget Dynamo. That handheld click-clacking label printer doesn't hold a ticker tape to this appealing cube version, which will add instant status to any cubicle drone's desk. It appears to be a simple block when closed, but press a little black button and up pops the seamless lid to expose a monochrome LCD screen and keyboard. The sticker even comes out from a tiny slit in the side. Too bad it's sold only in Japan since the King Jim Tepra Pro SR600 Label Writer (23,940 yen, $221) does English, too, with a choice of fonts and … Read more

Philips phone plays a different tune in China

As the mobile phone industry churns out new handsets every day, the opportunities to distance a product from the massive pack can seem infinitesimal. For that reason Philips deserves some credit for trying some new tricks on the Chinese market.

Its latest offering, the M600, attempts to capitalize on the continuing evolution toward music devices with a design that looks almost more like a media player than a phone. Not only does it have a giant play button just above the keypad, according to SlashPhone, but it also features MP3 hotkeys, 40 hours of playback, and the same "SRS … Read more

MSI Turbobook GX600: Bringing turbo back

Remember the days of the humble 486 PC? They all had a few things in common, such as being beige, being enormous, and having a button labelled "turbo." Those days are back, thanks to the MSI Turbobook GX600--the first laptop we can remember to sport a turbo button.

First impressions aren't great, aesthetically at least. OK, it's not beige, but it is all "gamey," which means it's festooned with unnecessary bling that would only appeal to 14-year-old kids. What's with the pointless red vents at the top right and left of the … Read more

LG KF600, KF700: We touch the touch screens

Love them or loathe them, touch-screen phones are here to stay. And LG has unveiled a whole bunch at this year's GSMA Mobile World Congress, including this curious looking phone, the LG KF600.

Why have one screen when you can have two? That seems to be the reasoning behind the KF600's design. The top screen acts as a normal display, where you can view all of your phone's content, and the bottom one serves as a navigation pad.

Unlike a normal navigation pad that stays static, though, the KF600's changes depending on what you're using … Read more

LG KF600 reads your mind

In addition to the LG KF700, LG Electronics debuted the LG KF600 at GSMA 2008, another touch-screen cell phone--hmm, I'm detecting a theme here. Not to be outdone by its bigger brother, the KF600 has plenty of flash of its own and is actually the GSM cousin of the LG Venus, which we reviewed earlier.

The upper half of the phone consists of a 2-inch, 262,000 color non-touch screen, while there's a 1.5-inch touch screen on the lower half. The latter is actually called the InteractPad and displays your main menu items as well as certain … Read more

Photos: 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL

Mercedes is on a model-refresh rampage. Following the very successful update to the C-Class for 2008, and last week's CLS-class makeover announcement, comes news and images of the 2009 SL roadster. On the outside, the convertible gets a new schnoz with a grille face-lift and new headlights, as well as a couple of power domes on the hood. Inside, the COMAND system that so underwhelmed us in our review of the 2007 SL550 is augmented with a hard-drive based navigation system and music server. Interestingly (and somewhat disappointingly), the new SL does not receive S-Class-level cabin tech upgrade that … Read more

Palm closing retail stores, paying out Treo owners

Palm has decided to close its retail stores as it faces the effects of a class-action lawsuit filed by Treo owners.

Palm announced on Wednesday that Treo 600 and 650 owners who have had their units replaced or repaired at least twice are eligible for cash rebates on new Palm smartphones, as part of a settlement of a class-action suit filed in 2005. The company will also repair any Treo 600 or 650 that hasn't failed twice, but is outside of the original warranty.

Thursday brought news that the company's 34 stores--eight Palm-branded locations and 26 stores that … Read more

Samsung's other 5-megapixel shooter

Though it was announced earlier this year, the Samsung SGH-G600 made a guest appearance at CES. Like the SGH-G800, the G600 is a 5-megapixel camera phone with lots of photo-editing features. The thin slider design may look like a lot of Moto phones before it, but it has a solid feel in the hand, and the opening mechanism is sturdy.

Features inside include full Bluetooth, a digital music player, a document viewer, e-mail and messaging, a speakerphone, 40MB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot, USB 2.0, a 16-million color display, and personal organizer applications. The SGH-G600 is … Read more
