When two geniuses meet, there is inevitably friction.
So on "Saturday Night Live," when the world's biggest (self-proclaimed) genius was confronted with Karen, who works for Apple, you knew that resentment would spew.
The rather mousy, nerdy woman from the Apple store sat calmly as Kanye fumed at her: "You do not deserve the title of 'genius!'"
"Mark Zuckerberg is a genius. I am a genius," he explained. Oddly, he didn't mention Steve Jobs, to whom he's compared himself on more than one occasion. (Well, the real Kanye has, as opposed … Read more
There are so many people in Apple stores these days that it's hard to hear conversations or even think straight.
That, perhaps, is one of the small reasons that the company is reported to be implementing its iBeacon system, which is designed to make your shopping experience even more experiential.
iBeacon was slipped onto iOS 7 as a surprise, something that portended the future.
And, as my colleague Roger Cheng experienced, it's already being experimented with by Major League Baseball at the New York Mets' Citi Field. There's certainly the need for a better experience there.
If there's a choice between an afterlife and nothing at all, I'd plump for the former.
It gives us a peculiar kind of hope that there is more. And, in America, we know that more is always better.
Discussions surrounding the afterlife tend to focus on belief. One scientist, however, is suggesting that there might be firm evidence of a great beyond.
Professor Robert Lanza, adjunct professor at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine at Wake Forest University, is a proponent of biocentrism.
This turns our idea of the universe on its head. Instead of imagining that it's … Read more
Glenn Greenwald -- the journalist who got the scoop on the NSA's mass surveillance programs courtesy of whistle-blower Edward Snowden -- has been busily assembling the team for the new online publication he's co-creating with $250 million in backing from eBay founder Pierre Omidyar.
And a series of tweeted announcements by Greenwald over the last few days gives a glimpse of how the closely watched venture's editorial focus is shaping up.
In an ironic, Snowdenesque twist, news of the venture leaked to BuzzFeed last month, generating a flurry of discussion in media and Internet circles.

Amazon.com's first original series, half-hour political comedy "Alpha House," is up and ready for any Amazon customer who wants to click and watch -- just don't count on a "House of Cards" type of binge, even if you pay for Amazon Prime.
Friday, Amazon kicked off the full season of "Alpha House." The show's pilot was up for all to see earlier this year, and in the last five months, that first episode has been available for any subscriber of Amazon Prime, the online retailer's $79-a-year service that includes … Read more
There's too much fighting in the world.
Wars are everywhere. And then sporting and business entities co-opt the postures and the language, making themselves look faintly silly.
How unusually pleasant, then, for Xbox to offer simple congratulations to Sony on the launch of its PlayStation 4.
The Xbox Twitter account was adorned Friday with this message: "Congratulations on your launch, Sony."
All right, it wasn't exactly lyrical. It may not have been entirely heartfelt, either.
But most of the time we're used to one tech company explaining why another's products have feet of clay. … Read more

The video clips will be accompanied by ads from Fox partner American Express.
Nothing quite speaks to the year 2013 like a YouTube video of a highly anticipated, $400 piece of hardware getting blown to bits by a high-powered rifle -- all to the soothing sounds of dubstep.
That's the modus operandi of Rated RR, a YouTube channel that relishes in putting mankind's most destructive pieces of hardware up against the tech community's most divisive pieces of hardware, those being iOS devices. The channel occasionally totes out a game console, like in this instance, but also features a healthy amount of weapon enthusiast videos to boot. … Read more
