According to the post, though the actual updates and change logs are missing, 16 Google apps have updated since Monday. I was able to download a Google Earth update on my Nexus 4 earlier today, but Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Wallet, and Keep remain unchanged.
Dr. Driving is a fun driving simulator with a good number of gameplay modes, levels, and rewards to keep you engaged for hours. While it's not the prettiest game around, it's a great driving simulator.
This game asks you to complete races and obstacles in the middle of an incredibly crowded city street. As with most smartphone driving games, you turn your phone left and right to steer while pressing down on onscreen pedals to start and stop. Dr. Driving's controls are on a makeshift dashboard, which makes them a little less distracting than its competition. That'… Read more
If you have an external storage drive such as those from Western Digital or LaCie, and if you have configured the drive with included software and drivers that came with the drive or which you downloaded from the manufacturer, then be aware that this software may not be compatible with OS X upgrades and could result in the inability to read the data you have on the drive.
In a growing Apple support discussion forum thread, and in CNET article comments, a number of Mac owners who have upgraded to OS X Mavericks are experiencing issues with external hard drives … Read more
This thick semi-throwback wasn't even mentioned by Apple, but it still exists. Like the cast in an Agatha Christie mystery, however, its ranks are being depleted. First the 17-inch version vanished back in 2011, and immediately after the October 2013 Apple press event, the 15-inch version disappeared from Apple's site, leaving only the $1,199 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro, which we are now referring to as … Read more

The disc drive is dead -- or it's at least issuing a triumphant death rattle.
Not in PCs just yet, but certainly in Apple's Macs. Earlier this week Apple introduced updated versions of its MacBook Pro with Retina Display, alongside an all new Mac Pro. What wasn't updated was Apple's line of non-Retina MacBook Pros, the only Apple devices that were still sporting a disc drive. In fact, Apple axed the 15-inch version and trimmed the non-Retina line to a single, 13-inch machine. The company has whittled away at product lines like this in the past, … Read more
The speed of Thunderbolt-based storage is about to double.
Promise Technology announced today the Pegasus2 and SANLink2 storage system to be among the first that support the new Thunderbolt 2 standard, currently the fastest I/O connection that has a cap speed of 20Gbps, or twice that of the original Thunderbolt.
Promise says the new Pegasus2 is a RAID system that comes in three tiers: R4, R6, and R8, offering four, six, and eight drive bays, respectively, thus providing up to 32TB of storage. The storage device supports all RAID configurations available for the amount of hard drives being used, … Read more

On Tuesday, Apple released the latest version of their desktop operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Available as a free download via the App Store, OS X Mavericks is supposed to bring power and performance improvements, as well as some new features, including the new Maps app.
Creating an OS X USB installer from the App Store download hasn't been very straightforward in the past, and the old methods no longer work for OS X 10.9. However, there's a new Apple utility with Mavericks that makes it relatively simple, and thanks to MacForums member, tywebb13, we … Read more
Upgrading your Windows 8 system to Windows 8.1 is simple enough through the Microsoft Store, but if you need to reinstall it or run the update on more than one PC, it can be inconvenient and time-consuming since Microsoft doesn't give you the option to save the update files.
There's a trick, however, that allows you to download the official Windows 8.1 ISO from Microsoft's servers with your Windows 8 product key. With the Windows 8.1 ISO, you can create DVD or USB media to update a Windows 8 PC to Windows 8.1. … Read more
