Larry Page absent from Google earnings call

As anticipated, Google CEO Larry Page did not speak at Google's Q2 2012 earnings call today. Speaking instead were Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette, Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora, and SVP of Advertising Susan Wojcicki. Google's earnings release did include statements attributed to Page.

Google said on June 21 that Page had missed his company's annual shareholders' meeting owing to the loss of his voice but provided no other details. Facebook Pages Manager version 1.2 is out

Facebook today updated its Facebook Pages Manager for iOS mobile app. You can grab version 1.2 now from the Apple App Store (8.8MB).

Here is the official changelog for Facebook Pages Manager for iOS version 1.2:

Now available in 11 languages. Upload photos to your Page's albums. See photos that are attached to messages. Bug fixes and performance updates.

Previously, the app was only available in English. Now it supports the following 11 languages: English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish.

Facebook highlights weddings with new feature

Sometimes it can be easy to miss a friend's engagement or wedding announcement on Facebook's News Feed. So the social network has decided to do something about this.

Facebook announced today a new feature called "Weddings and Celebrations." Similar to the birthday feature, the weddings and celebrations feature shows friends' status on the top right-hand side of the page once they change it to "married" or "engaged."

Google's Larry Page back at work, recovering from illness

Google co-founder Larry Page is recovering from an unspecified illness that sidelined him for several weeks and caused him to lose his voice, but he has returned to the office, Chairman Eric Schmidt said today, according to a report.

Page, who has missed several public company events in the past couple of weeks, has been taking meetings today at the Web giant's Mountain View, Calif., headquarters, Schmidt told reporters at the annual Allen & Co conference in Sun Valley, according to a Reuters account.

One analyst is wondering what's going on with Larry Page.

Google CEO Larry Page wasn't at his company's annual shareholders' meeting this week because the search company said he lost his voice. Google has already announced that that he also won't be at Google I/O next week -- nor participating in the second-quarter earnings call set for July.

U.S. antitrust regulators to question Google co-founders

The Federal Trade Commission plans to question Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin as part of the ongoing antitrust probe of the Web powerhouse, Bloomberg reported today.

The report's unnamed sources said the Google executives have hired a top Washington law firm to prepare for the depositions. The firm, Williams & Connolly LLP, represented President Bill Clinton, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, and the late Senator Edward Kennedy, according to Bloomberg.

Google declined to comment on the depositions but did offer a statement.

Follow a brand's Page in the new Foursquare app

Early this morning Foursquare rolled out a massive update, including both visual updates along with some great new features. One of which is the capability to easily discover and follow brand Pages. Up until now, there wasn't a streamlined method to follow a brand's Page when using the mobile app. 

Following a brand's page provides Foursquare users with the added benefit of seeing tips and check-ins from a particular brand. There's another incentive for following a Page -- badges.

How to share a post from the Facebook iOS app

Sharing a link from a Facebook post using the iOS app may not be all that obvious, but the feature does exist.

To share a link you'll need to be viewing the post from your News Feed. Tap on the link to open it. Next, tap on the action (or share) icon at the top of the screen. You will then be presented with three options, one of which is the ability to share the post.
