You're going to have to listen to the show to understand the evolution of our favorite new phrase, "mucho bogo." Speaking of evolution, the HTC EVO 4G is officially available, just in time to be stomped into dust by the forthcoming iPhone. Maybe. Also, Google's going to hand over its intercepted WiFi data, to make a bad problem worse, and we're giving a big (BIG) no to the Kno.Subscribe: iTunes (MP3) | iTunes (320x180) | iTunes (640x360) | RSS (MP3) | RSS (320x180) | RSS (640x360)… Read more
Chevrolet and OnStar are sponsoring a series of training courses for first responders across the U.S. specifically geared toward electric-vehicle crash rescues.
The training has the endorsement of a myriad of rescue organizations including the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), according to a joint statement from all parties involved.
Sessions will be held in 2010 in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Washington, D.C., as well as at leading rescue and first-responder conferences throughout the year.
In conjunction with the rescue organizations, Chevy … Read more
Yoda, Boba Fett, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper can grace your cookie jar, provided you have the Star Wars Cookie Cutters. While these four figures might not have been my first choices as far as Star Wars characters I'd like to nibble on, this set of four does make for some great treats. Each cookie cutter measures between 2.5 inches and 4 inches wide. They're available through Williams-Sonoma.
The Star Wars Cookie Cutters don't just cut an outline in your cookie dough: the edges of the cutters create the shape of the dough but you then … Read more
Last year we tested Cadillac's SRX small SUV. As most of its cabin tech mirrors what's in the CTS sedan, we had high praise for the vehicle; however, we felt its direct injection 3-liter V-6 engine didn't give it enough power. This year, Cadillac is releasing its top trim vehicle in the SRX line with a turbocharged 2.8-liter V-6 engine under the hood.
Despite the smaller displacement, the turbo SRX gets 35 more horsepower than the direct injection version has. Even though its fuel economy suffers from the turbo, it's not much. We also like … Read more
Ever wonder just what happens when a star explodes? No, we don't mean Sean Penn punching the paparazzi. We're talking about what goes on when those stars you wish upon die in gigantic, eye-popping explosions called supernovae that happen once every 50 years or so in a galaxy the size of the Milky Way.
Researchers have created a 3D computer model chronicling just such a rare happening--noteworthy because the mechanics of the blasts are so complex that scientists have so far been able to simulate only parts of them, and only in one or two dimensions.
The computer … Read more
Last week, rumors were swirling around a potential partnership between General Motors and Google to develop an Android-based telematics system. On the eve of Google's I/O conference, GM made an official announcement about its actual plans for the Android OS, a version 2.0 of the Android version of its OnStar Mobile app for Chevrolet Volt that will feature Google Maps integration.
Essentially, what GM will be doing is adding a "navigation" tab to the Android version of the OnStar app that allows users to see their current location and the location of a connected Chevrolet … Read more
In yet another twist on the years-long patent dispute between TiVo and EchoStar, an appeals court has agreed to a fresh hearing of the case.
The U.S. Appeals Court for the Federal Circuit on Friday granted EchoStar's petition for a rehearing en banc, which means all the judges on a court will be present for a rehearing of the patent dispute between the two TV service providers. This is typically used when hearing an appeal on a decision made by a panel, or just a few of the judges on the court.
The best moment of the "Star Wars" trilogy was when C-3PO was nearly destroyed. Now you can commemorate that moment with the pleather C-3PO Bespin Backpack.
Just like in the film, the robot isn't all that useful--he comes with a mesh bag that's basically only good for carrying himself along with any of his loose appendages.
However, you can stuff his cavity with small objects--the iPad appears to be about the max payload--in a manner I like to imagine to be quite painful. When you're done with the backpack, C-3PO can be reassembled in full … Read more
Phrases are coined left and right on today's show, from our plans to unbumble the Internet to the chat-room created phrase "gestApple," to describe the behavior of everybody's favorite door-busting-down, Ellen-berating iPhone-maker. Plus, "three-day-old tuna." It's a fun one.
