Google will launch a $199 tablet this week at its developers conference co-branded with Asus, Bloomberg is reporting.

This follows a series of reports that have been trickling out for months about a 7-inch Nexus tablet being developed with Asus. The tablet is slated to debut at the Google I/O conference that starts Wednesday.

The one feature garnering the most attention is price. At $199, the Google tablet is $200 less than Apple's $399 iPad 2.

The Android version of the Google Play Store will get yet another makeover, according to details hitting the Internet this week. Italian Android site HDblog (translate) obtained an image, which appears to show a new look for the app store that borrows from previous versions yet still resembles its desktop counterpart.

Nintendo just ordered up a supersized version of the 3DS. Going on sale on August 19 for $200, the 3DS XL is 90% larger than the original 3DS. Nintendo could have taken this product in a new direction for gamers by using the extra space to add a second analog stick. But no, the XL has the same design as the 3DS. The release of Jelly Bean has improved the functionality of Android tablets toward a more user-friendly, productive, and fast-performing experience. The OS includes a new interface for smoother navigating, a better camera app, and Google Now, which rivals Apple's Siri.

The new features in Android 4.2 range from interesting to useful, but all are meant to enhance the functionality of your Android tablet. The Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets were the first to ship with Android 4.2. It's yet to reach other tablets, but at least now we know what to expect when the updates start rolling out.

Some of the new new features include faster access to notifications and settings, and Gesture Type, which interprets the swipes of your finger on the touch screen into text.
