Google's Nexus 7 tablet is here: What do you think? (poll)

The Nexus 7 has landed.

It turns out most of the rumors about a $200 7-inch Android 4.1 tablet from Google were true. The slate was unveiled during the Google I/O keynote this morning and like we expected, it's made by Asus and packs a front-facing camera, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. … Read more

Google tablet set to limbo in at low $199 entry point

Google will launch a $199 tablet this week at its developers conference co-branded with Asus, Bloomberg is reporting.

This follows a series of reports that have been trickling out for months about a 7-inch Nexus tablet being developed with Asus. The tablet is slated to debut at the Google I/O conference that starts Wednesday.

The one feature garnering the most attention is price. At $199, the Google tablet is $200 less than Apple's $399 iPad 2.

Previous reports have claimed the Nexus device will sport the Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" operating system, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3Read more

What I'm wishing for in a Google Nexus tablet

For months now we've been hearing about a possible Google-designed Nexus Android tablet, which could be unveiled as soon as tomorrow at the Google I/O keynote. There's been leaked images, specs and word that ASUS will be manufacturing the 7-inch tablet running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

We could soon finally learn how much of what we've heard is true, and here's my wish list of what I'd like to see in a Nexus tablet (Note: Although I'd love to see it happen so that Palm users may be avenged, I've stricken my desire to see a Nexus tablet running WebOS, because the idea is of course totally ridiculous -- but man, would that be hilarious.):… Read more

Rumored design change for Google Play Store in Android 4.1

The Android version of the Google Play Store will get yet another makeover, according to details hitting the Internet this week. Italian Android site HDblog (translate) obtained an image, which appears to show a new look for the app store that borrows from previous versions yet still resembles its desktop counterpart.

Appearing cleaner and clutter-free, the Google Play Store experience appears to offer quick access to the various types of content such as games, music, and books. The color-coded icons across the bottom mimic those found on the desktop version and the top left has what looks to be a … Read more

What we might get for Android at Google I/O 2012

With Google's annual developer conference, Google I/O, fast approaching, it's time to once again predict some of the Android-related items that I expect out of the three-day event. As usual, there's no shortage of Android rumors to ponder, but this year seems to be just a little bit different. For the first time since Android was announced, we're expecting to see an Android device officially launch at the conference. Exciting? Sure, but there's much more. … Read more

Nintendo goes big on 3D with 3DS XL

It's time to live large, change your fate and flip out:

Nintendo just ordered up a supersized version of the 3DS. Going on sale on August 19 for $200, the 3DS XL is 90% larger than the original 3DS. Nintendo could have taken this product in a new direction for gamers by using the extra space to add a second analog stick. But no, the XL has the same design as the 3DS. It's also a bit odd that Nintendo didn't announce this two weeks ago at E3.

So who would want the 3DS XL? Larger screens … Read more

Top Android 4.1 tablets

The release of Jelly Bean has improved the functionality of Android tablets toward a more user-friendly, productive, and fast-performing experience. The OS includes a new interface for smoother navigating, a better camera app, and Google Now, which rivals Apple's Siri.

The new features in Android 4.2 range from interesting to useful, but all are meant to enhance the functionality of your Android tablet. The Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets were the first to ship with Android 4.2. It's yet to reach other tablets, but at least now we know what to expect when the updates start rolling out.

Some of the new new features include faster access to notifications and settings, and Gesture Type, which interprets the swipes of your finger on the touch screen into text.

The following list comprises the very best of the Jelly Bean lot and will be frequently updated as more tablets are released or updated.… Read more
