Apple fans invade Samsung's Facebook page

Alright, children, this just has to stop.

You've had your pillow fight. You're blown your pink bubbles at each other. Now just lie down and get some sleep.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a chance of that happening any time soon.

You'd have thought it was enough with all the fire-breathing and wailing over Samsung's ad that claimed iPhone 5 was the Emperor's new underwear. Yes, Apple's faithful had some fun making their own versions of the ad.

But now they have mounted the ramparts of Samsung's Facebook page.

Apple's iPhone 5: Everything you need to know (FAQ)

Apple's new iPhone is here, and even with a nearly two-hour keynote, a Web site full of specifications, and CNET's must-read review there are plenty of questions that need answering.

CNET has put together this FAQ to help get to the bottom of some of them. These range from what's new to where you can get the phone to the differences between what you get with each carrier.

This is a living document and is likely to be updated this week and beyond. If we missed any big questions, please drop them in the comments and we'… Read more

So, what's new? Comparing the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5

After months of rumors, endless "leaked" images, and tons of analyst reports, Apple finally introduced its latest smartphone, the iPhone 5 last week. In addition to its new look, it also received some hardware and feature updates. To see what changed and what stayed the same, CNET put together this handy comparison chart that stacks up the device with its previous iteration, the iPhone 4S. Take a look and be sure to read our full iPhone 5 review.

iPhone 6: 9 most-wanted features

The iPhone 5 is here and millions of people will buy it and love it. But its arrival also starts the clock ticking on the next iPhone. Approximately a year from now Apple will have a new model, which may be the iPhone 6 or simply be another iteration of the 5 (a lot of people have their money on a 5S).

What will the next iPhone have that this one doesn't? That I don't know, but I do have a wish list for what I'd like it to have.

Episode 14: HTC One X vs iPhone in a midair Road Test

This week, you finally get to see the results of my high-flying Road Test of the HTC One X! I actually jumped out of a helicopter because we were so sure that this HTC One X commercial, touting its camera features to such an extent that it could be used in a midair fashion shoot, was a ridiculous put-on. You'll see in the segment whether I managed to get the shot, and whether the phone's camera and features performed as advertised.

Special thanks to the folks at GoPro, who helped us set up this shoot and loaned us … Read more

Apple's stock crosses the $700 barrier

Apple's stock ended on a high note, crossing $700 mark at the end of day, capping off a strong run over the summer.

Its share price closed up 1.2 percent to $699.78. In after-hours trading, it hovered above $700 for a few minutes. It last traded at $699.80.

Apple gave investors another reason to cheer today when it said the pre-orders for the iPhone 5 topped 2 million in the first 24 hours, more than doubling the 1 million iPhone 4S pre-orders from nearly a year ago. AT&T chimed in to say it saw record pre-orders over the weekend, … Read more

Now Nokia joins the anti-iPhone 5 party

Now the playground is full of name-callers.

First there was Samsung's muscle-baring, fact-sharing anti-iPhone 5 ad, which ran yesterday. You know, the one that said the Galaxy S3 is full of features and the iPhone 5, well, isn't.

And now Nokia is stiffening its fins in order to declare that its fine Lumia is happily better than Apple's long-faced newcomer.

Just as news of Samsung's ad came through on the hottest of wires, Nokia took to its Twitter account to declare: "Lumia 920: Wireless charging, amazing camera, screen you can use with gloves on and … Read more

iPhone 5 preorders top 2M in first 24 hours, shattering record

Apple said today that the iPhone 5 notched more than 2 million preorders in its first 24 hours, more than doubling the tally of the iPhone 4S last year.

The iPhone 4S saw 1 million preorders over its first 24 hours.

It's not a huge surprise that the preorders are so high; Apple's Web site was overwhelmed on Friday, and the carrier stores began to push back their delivery estimates toward the end of the day. The iPhone 5 is benefiting from pent-up demand among consumers who had sought a new design, bigger display, and a 4G LTE … Read more

Apple fanboys fight back against Samsung

Today's focus is squarely on the concepts of justice and hurt.

When one person hurts you, should you give them another chance? Or should you expose them publicly for the myopic, self-centered, vacuously cruel, mendacious individual that you believe them to be?

Yes, I am talking about the painful rumors that Robert Pattinson has taken Kristen Stewart back.

However, a passing observation is that Apple fanpersons have chosen the latter option, rather than Pattinson's former.

For they find the Samsung ad that runs today all over America -- the one in which Samsung declares its Galaxy S3 to … Read more

T-Mobile to offer nano-SIM cards for unlocked iPhone 5s-- report

T-Mobile will start carrying nano-SIM cards in mid October, allowing owners of unlocked iPhone 5s to jump to the carrier, according to a report.

The Verge says it's confirmed the news with T-Mobile, following a tweet that went out from @T-MobileHelp earlier in the week.

This past Wednesday -- the day Apple took the wraps off the iPhone 5 -- T-Mobile kicked off its "Unlocked & Unlimited" campaign, under which it will be carrying unlocked iPhones in its stores for demonstration purposes, airing national commercials inviting unlocked iPhone users into its stores, and launching a few of … Read more
