Land Rover previews the compact Evoque

Land Rover has pulled the wraps off of its newest model, a luxury, compact SUV dubbed the Range Rover Evoque. Based on the LRX concept that debuted in 2008, the Evoque's two-door design makes it the smallest, lightest Range Rover ever; it's expected to be the most fuel efficient, as well.

Land Rover has released only a single photo of the new model--for the rest, we will have to wait for the 2010 Paris Motor Show in September. Unsurprisingly, the production model looks--at least on the outside--almost exactly like the LRX concept. Obvious differences include larger wing mirrors … Read more

Pure launches interactive Internet radios for U.S.

Late last year, Pure, a global company based in the U.K., released a family of Internet-connected radios overseas. Now it's bringing them to the U.S. market.

While the company is offering several products, including the Evoke Flow, Sirocco 550, Siesta Flow, and Oasis Flow, it's highlighting the distinctly designed Sensia, which features a 5.7-inch color touch screen and costs around $350.

The company says its digital and Internet-connected range of radios work together with Pure's proprietary radio and media portal, the Pure Lounge, which "enables a two-way flow of information between the radio, … Read more

Motorola Evoke comes to Cricket

Last month we complained that Alltel was being stingy with review models of the new Motorola Evoke QA4. Unfortunately, our griping did no good as we still haven't been able to take a good look at the touch-screen slider phone that debuted at CTIA.

Luckily, we got a nice note from Cricket Wednesday telling us a review model is on its way. Cricket will launch the phone Thursday for $299 ($279 if you buy online). Yes, that is a a little expensive, but keep in mind that you're getting the phone contract-free.

A Moto Evoke review? Honest, we're trying!

Last month we told you about the new Motorola Evoke touch-screen phone, which Moto unveiled at the CTIA show. The slider handset was worth a look at the time, mostly because it wasn't another Razr revamp. But the phone offered some promising features, including several onscreen widgets for applications, stereo Bluetooth, and a full HTML browser.

The 2.8-inch display is smaller than we'd like, especially when using the virtual QWERTY keyboard, but you can move between menu screens by swiping your finger.

Soon after we showed you our first look, several CNET readers wrote me asking for … Read more

Alltel gets Moto Evoke

It's been only two weeks since CTIA, but many of the new phones introduced at the show are already going on sale. AT&T picked up the Samsung Impression, Samsung Propel Pro, and LG Xenon, and Thursday Alltel announced it would have the Motorola Evoke QA4.

The Evoke was Moto's sole new phone at CTIA. The touch-screen handset doesn't offer a whole lot new, but it has its attractions just the same. The handset is a reasonable $79 with service.

In case you didn't catch our coverage from CTIA, the Moto has a slider design … Read more

Motorola unveils the Evoke QA4

Motorola joined Nokia, Samsung, and LG on Monday in getting a head start on CTIA. Although the mobile festivities don't begin until April 1 in Las Vegas, Moto spilled details on its new Evoke QA4. to see it from all angles, check out our Motorola Evoke hands-on photo gallery.

Stocked with a midrange multimedia-feature set and sporting an eye-catching design, the Evoke should turn a few heads on the show floor. The 2.8-inch display takes up most of the phone's real estate. In addition to an icon-based menu, it also shows a virtual QWERTY keyboard for messaging … Read more
