When you think of a basic, affordable vehicle that everyone can buy, a hover car doesn't immediately come to mind. But that's what emerged from the People's Car Project launched by Volkswagen in China last year.

Volkswagen, which translates to "people's car" in English, challenged China residents to submit their ideas of what the car of the future should look like. The company sifted through more than 119,000 ideas submitted to the project Web site and compiled three concepts, including the Hover Car.

Can you still call a touch screen a touch screen if you don't have to physically touch the panel to register a command? Apparently, yes. Cypress' new hover-detection feature for capacitive touch screens lets you do exactly that. In other words, you don't actually need to touch the display to zoom in on a Web page or enlarge certain points of interest on a map. As your finger moves closer to the screen, the corresponding onscreen bubble (magnifying glass of sort) grows bigger.

Is the iPhone finally coming to Verizon? According to an article over at Apple Insider, sources in the Taiwan handset supply chain say Apple has contracted to produce a UMTS/CDMA hybrid iPhone, making it compatible with more networks worldwide.
