ACDSee 16 is the latest version of this pro-class photo editor and collection manager. It's compatible with previous ACD Systems releases and comes with a database upgrade wizard. ACDSee 16 continues to emphasize ease of use and customer service. It still makes it easy to post and share images online, but it adds new features like the Info Palette, which collects and displays image data in one convenient spot; the Reverse Geocode feature for adding geotags; the Lens Blur tool for creating realistic bokeh effects; and Tilt-Shift for transforming images into simulated miniature scale models. Extras include slideshow, wallpaper, … Read more
PicDrop - Scrapbooking Friend solves the photo printing problem by enabling users to wirelessly send pictures right to a local Walgreens to get processed. This is one application that scrapbooking users must have.
After a virtually instant download users will observe one of the most easy-to-navigate user interfaces. It features large, easy-to-read icons and a bright colorful scheme. There is a minor setup procedure that requires inputting some information regarding Dropbox, Facebook, and other Web sites that may be used in conjunction with this app. To get started using PicDrop - Scrapbooking Friend, the user must first select photographs that … Read more

Facebook's Timeline, the newest and most dramatic change yet to its famous profile pages, hasn't even rolled out publicly yet, but it's already under legal attack.
Timelines.com, a small Chicago based company, filed a trademark-infringement lawsuit yesterday against Facebook. Timelines.com, an online social-scrapbooking company, has been in business since 2008 and is claiming that Facebook's newest platform product could destroy its livelihood.
According to the complaint, which TechCrunch has embedded, the Chicago startup is seeking damages and an immediate injunction to prevent being "rolled over and quite possibly eliminated by the unlawful action … Read more
It's been 3 years since Epson shipped its Stylus Photo R1900 printer, and even at what seems like a high price of $549, 13-inch models like these are relatively popular with scrapbookers, graphic artists, and amateur photographers seeking to produce glossy images that pop. Epson has finally replaced that model with the R2000, adding the network support, larger ink tanks, updated halftoning algorithms, and improved paper handling similar to the recently announced R3000. And it launches at a lower price than that model did: $499.99. If you want a more professional, less glossy ink set, you can now … Read more
In recent years it's become very easy to create custom greeting cards, calendars, brochures, photo books, and more all from the comfort of home. Numerous applications exist to help users create professional-looking projects with very little know-how. ArcSoft Print Creations is one of these, combining multiple design tools into one application. Unfortunately, although the program itself is free, most of the templates it offers must be paid for if users want to print them without a watermark.
The program's interface is attractive and intuitive. The home screen allows users to select whether they want to create a new … Read more
Graphics-Toolbox is a graphic design program. We don't have much to say about it, and what there is, isn't good.
Opening Graphics-Toolbox causes the interface to automatically fill the entire screen, forcing you to minimize the program to switch between applications and generating plenty of annoyance as well. One look at the basic interface with its crude and tiny buttons prompted the question, "Where are the drop-down menus?" It appears that there are none; all tools and functions are accessed from the program's palettes, which we couldn't find a way to move. Movable palettes … Read more
Tolon NoteKeeper provides a simple set of tools for putting ideas and images into a note filing system. While the aim is good, we were turned off by the layout and felt lukewarm about the whole program.
The note-keeper's interface was a major hurdle for us to overcome. The screen was very simple and not too cluttered, but it provided no direction on how to get started. Even after reading the Help file's tutorial, we still needed to play around for a few minutes to find our footing. This was a frustrating way to start, but we were … Read more
