Williams-Sonoma cranks up the volume with tablet accessories

It's that time of year again when things are about to get real busy in the kitchen. The holidays usher in an endless stream of grocery bags being hauled into the kitchen, most filled with recognizable favorites of food-to-be. Tradition may dictate turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy to be on the table come dinnertime, but that doesn't mean a soon-to-be classic can't get thrown in the mix.

Watching a cooking video and following along with the steps is a natural use for tablets and mobile devices. The Williams-Sonoma Smart Tools Bluetooth Speaker ($149.95) offers an easy … Read more

Learning to drive faster at the Simraceway Lancer Evolution Experience

The best mod that you can make to improve the performance of any car doesn't happen in the engine bay or in the wheel wells. It happens in the cabin; and I'm not talking about a stereo upgrade, a Momo steering wheel, or racing bucket seats. I'm talking about boosting the performance of the boob sitting in the driver's seat. Improving your skill as a driver will allow you to pull the most performance out of any mod that you make to the car you're currently driving and it's transferable to any other car … Read more

Minced herbs without the work

I know it only seems like mincing piles of fresh herbs feels like it takes forever. It isn't that tough a task, but it can be made easier and faster with the Microplane Herb Mill. Just fill the mill with fresh, leafy herbs and with a twist of the handle, they are minced and ready to be added to all sorts of recipes. Add to tasty sauces, salad dressings, curries, soups, or just sprinkle over a finished plate as garnish. Best of all, the Microplane Herb Mill keeps your fingers away from blades.

The Microplane Herb Mill uses dual-action … Read more

Finding room for more pie

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so it's time to talk turkey, or in this case, pie. While you aren't going to want to skip straight to dessert on the biggest food holiday of the year, it doesn't hurt to do a little planning. After the turkey and mashed potatoes have settled, there are still the apple and pumpkin pies to enjoy. When it's time to choose between apple and pumpkin pie, there can really only be one response: yes.

The Apple and Pumpkin Pocket Pie Molds from Williams-Sonoma are nifty little all-in-one portable pocket pie … Read more

Kart Racing Lives at Infineon Raceway

As I alluded to in my previous blog, Infineon Raceway plays host to a variety of auto racing events. Today's video blog will take a gander at the sport of go-kart racing, and its place at the famous race track in Sonoma, California.

Kart racing of all competition, skill and age levels have taken place at Infineon over the years, and the track occasionally hosts multiple go-kart events per week during its peak season. Kart racing has a deceptively loyal following and fanbase that makes it possible for so many organizations and events to exist, and their dedication to … Read more

Audi Sportscar Experience at Infineon Raceway

Infineon Raceway in beautiful Sonoma, California is a great place take in some rays and watch fast cars speed around its landscape. Within the last week or so, Infineon has played host to Indy Car, drifting and go-kart racing. This coming week, the varied trend continues as the Sonoma track brings back the popular Audi Sportscar Experience this week for another round of fun for amateur driving in the newest Audi cars.

This clip comes from a recent Audi Sportscar Experience extravaganza at Infineon Raceway in June 2009. What's neat about this video is that you get the view … Read more

Formula Drift Championship in Sonoma

Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California is usually busy around this time of year, and this last weekend was no exception. While much of the attention was on the Indy Car Grand Prix race held on Sunday with commercials pimping such Indy Car stars as Danica Patrick (duh) and Helio Castroneves, the Formula Drift company had an event of its own at Infineon the night before featuring Round 6 of the Locked and Loaded series.

Formula D's "Locked and Loaded" was held on Saturday August 22 at Infineon Raceway, and based on the video here it looked like … Read more

Dario Franchitti wins at Indy Grand Prix Sonoma

In case ya didn't know, I report to the Cnet offices here in beautiful San Francisco, California. Being a current resident here in Northern Cali, I have seen many commercials for the Indy Car competition at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Given its proximity to this author and the hype surrounding one of the bigger races on the Indy Car calendar, I decided to give today's video blog to covering yesterday's 2009 edition of the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma.

As some of you may know, Indy Car is very stingy about letting video out to the … Read more

Stay warm with this hot chocolate pot

Wow. Hot chocolate season really snuck up on me. It seems as if only a few weeks ago I was complaining about the heat. Well, since I am in San Francisco, that very well could have been the case, but there is no mistaking it now: it is cold. We may have oddly timed summers around here, but winter still gets the cold treatment. Granted, not like elsewhere, but it is still definitely time for hot chocolate.

As a fan of the Bialetti stove top espresso maker, I am drawn to their version of the hot chocolate maker. Bialetti teamed … Read more

A tray for the grill

I like to grill as much as possible--steak, chicken, and more--but I always get a little frustrated by the long list of things I can't cook on the grill. Even if I have the grill already heated up, cooking fajita meat doesn't work; it just falls through the slats. The Grill Tray provides a flat surface that lets me cook just about anything on there. I can even pile up tortilla chips and cheese and serve up nachos hot off the grill.

Williams-Sonoma sells the Grill Tray, although it's actually handmade at a Pennsylvania foundry. It is … Read more
