T-Mobile G2X out of stock, on the mend

The T-Mobile G2X is currently temporarily out of stock via the online store, leading many people to speculate that the carrier has taken the phone off shelves to work on a few bugs such as random resets. While we haven't experienced these problems with our review units, we have heard a few comments from readers who have.

Yesterday we received this comment from T-Mobile, stating that the phone is out of stock due to inventory issues:

"The T-Mobile G2x with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and … Read more

T-Mobile G2x takes screenshots like the iPhone

If you've ever wanted to take a screenshot on your Android phone, you know that it's no easy task. You usually have to root the phone or install the SDK, which is just way too much of a hassle for something as simple as a screenshot.

Curiously, it's a whole different story with the T-Mobile G2x. Even though the G2x has native Android 2.2 on it, LG must've done something so that you can take screenshots easily. All you have to do is press the Home button and the Power/Screen lock button simultaneously to take a screenshot, just as you would on the iPhone. The image will then appear in the Gallery app. According to reports we've read online, this should be the case with the Optimus 2X in Europe as well.

While not really a groundbreaking feature, we think this is yet another reason to love the G2x, and we hope that the imminent Gingerbread update won't remove it.

Gingerbread to arrive soon for G2X

According to a few tweeted replies from T-Mobile, the T-Mobile G2X will soon get the coveted Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS update. One reply said that it will be "coming soon," and another said that it'll "be here sooner than you'd expect." Of course, this could be anything from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how you interpret the word "soon." But nevertheless, we believe T-Mobile when it says it has been testing the G2X with Gingerbread prior to the launch, and hope to see this update any day … Read more

T-Mobile G2X review: It's worth the hype

When LG first announced the T-Mobile G2X at CTIA this year, we were absolutely excited that the U.S. would finally get its own version of the LG Optimus 2X, which was the first dual-core processor smartphone at the time it was announced. Of course, with the Motorola Atrix 4G and the upcoming Droid Bionic, the G2X won't be the only dual-core phone on the block. But with plenty of multimedia features, HSPA+ support, and a clean Android interface, the G2X still manages to come out on top as one of the best Android phones we've seen this year.

Before we get into its insides, we have to note how handsome this phone is. It's sleek, with gunmetal gray accents, and a soft matte finish on the back. Weighing at around 5 ounces, it has a decidedly solid feel in the hand that tells you this is a premium handset. The 4-inch WVGA IPS LCD display is crisp, colorful, and stunning against the glossy black surface. The blacks are not quite as deep as that on a Super AMOLED or qHD display, but we still thought it was great for watching HD video and playing games.

And for those tasks, you'll appreciate the dual-core processor.… Read more

T-Mobile G2X in house

As soon as we posted that the T-Mobile G2X was launching today, we got our very own G2X in the mail. Indeed, we've had it in our hands for only a few minutes so far, but it's starting to make a good impression already.

The 4-inch display is quite the stunner at first glance, and the dual-core processor speed is immediately evident even when scrolling through menus and launching apps. We've yet to really put it through its paces, but so far so good.

We'll have a full review for you guys on Monday. What would … Read more

Hands-on with the T-Mobile G2X

ORLANDO, Fla.--If you were a fan of the LG Optimus 2X, then you should be a fan of the T-Mobile G2X too. We had hands-on time with the sleek new LG phone today, and it feels just as fast and impressive as its European cousin.

And no wonder: The specs are eerily similar. The G2X has a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, and the resulting performance is immediately apparent when handling the phone. Scrolling through menus felt very smooth, and launching graphic-intensive apps like Google Maps took milliseconds. We played a few high-definition videos on the device, and were … Read more

T-Mobile G2X blazes with dual core and 4G

LG has just announced the T-Mobile G2X, which is the much-awaited U.S. version of the LG Optimus 2X. It appears that T-Mobile and LG are going after a G prefix naming convention with their higher-end devices, the first being the T-Mobile G-Slate tablet.

Like the Optimus 2X, the T-Mobile G2X has very impressive features. It has the coveted 1.0 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a beautiful 4-inch WVGA display, 8GB of internal memory plus the option of up to 32GB with microSD, HDMI mirroring, DLNA support, an accelerometer, a gyro sensor, 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and … Read more
