Samsung delivers LED monitor re-up

LAS VEGAS--In the last year or so, the Samsung PX2370 and XL2370 have set the world afire in the LED monitor space, and Samsung is not content to rest on its laurels.

Today the company announced two new slim LED monitors to follow up the X2370 line. The Samsung 550 and 350 are the new LED kids on the block and as you can see, they're both downright gorgeous.

The 550 is the more high-end solution, whereas the 350 will be offered as a lower-end LED monitor.

These LED-based monitors continue Samsung's attention to aesthetic design and functionality, … Read more

Top-rated Samsung monitors

I really can't shake a stick these days without running smack dab into a Samsung monitor. This is of particular concern to me, what with my affinity for stick-shaking and all.

With so many Samsung monitors being released and the fact that I review many of them, it stands to reason that the very best of the Samsung best would need to be rounded up, stood up, and counted. All five of them.

Here you'll find the five best Samsung monitors we've reviewed so far. If your favorite Samsung monitor isn't on this list, then we … Read more

Samsung's 24-inch P2450h: Different kind of green machine

Samsung rarely fails to manufacturer good-looking monitors that, at the very least, perform decently. Its SyncMaster XL2370 and PX2370 are both great examples of aesthetically pleasing monitors with performance that backs up their good looks.

This week we reviewed the Samsung SyncMaster P2450h. While its brothers are more like the overachieving, valedictorian, star athletes of Samsung's monitor litter, the P2450h is akin to that weird uncle that still hasn't moved out of his parent's basement and never fails to mention that he "has something cooking" that will really turn his life around, "and then … Read more

LG's E2350V or 'The Samsung XL2370, LG-style'

I have no evidence to support what I'm about to state, but the following scenario just may have taken place. LG, witnessing the Samsung Syncmaster XL2370 get tons of positive attention for its looks and simple design, decides, "Wouldn't it be nice if we released a monitor that got tons of attention for its looks and simple design, too?" And thus was born the LG Flatron E2350V, according to me, that is.

The E2350V looks a lot like the XL2370, but also includes a couple features not seen on the Samsung model, like a built-in headphone … Read more

Samsung's PX2370 evolves

One of my great joys in life is witnessing the evolution of a concept. It doesn't matter if it's tracking the progress in gameplay, graphics, and storytelling made in the Metal Gear Solid Series, or studying the evolution of Gollum's computer graphics quality in the "Lord of the Rings" movie series. I simply love seeing something improve over time. Iteration after iteration.

So it probably comes as little surprise how excited I was to receive the Samsung PX2370. This is Samsung's follow-up to one of the most popular monitors we've ever reviewed, the … Read more

Samsung PX2370 (photos)

Earlier this year, we told you about Samsung's PX2370; the successor to the very popular XL2370.

Well, we finally got one in, and while we spend the next few days touching it, smelling it, tasting it,and passing it through our lower intestines, I took just a few photos to help you pass the time. Look for a full review soon.

Acer's H233H and H243H monitors: Cheap, but not 'cheap'

Color me surprised. Most times when I review a monitor that hits around the $200 range, I'm expecting disappointment, in the "well, at least I didn't pay that much for it" sense. I mean, sure, most monitors get the job done, and, technically, as long as it powers on and shows the correct image, the job is getting done. Still, I've learned to lower expectations for 23-inch or larger monitors that cost around $200.

Now, the Acer H233H and H243H probably aren't going to blow your minds, but for the price, they succeeded in … Read more

Another week, another LED-based monitor review

The LED revolution has truly begun. In the last month or so, we've reviewed three LED-based LCD computer monitors, and we expect that they won't be the last.

Last week, we looked at the LG Flatron W2386L. It's an LED-based monitor that, while offering great game performance and a thin design, could not compare performancewise to the current LED king, the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370.

This week, we reviewed the AOC V22 LED monitor. Unlike many recent monitors, this one has a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 16:9, Also, it has an extremely glossy screen--like "… Read more

LG W2486L approaches great

I reviewed the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 a few weeks back. (BTW, that monitor is slated to be released at Best Buy on October 12, if you're interested.) Since then, it seems the floodgates have been blown wide open when it comes to LED-backlit monitors.

Thursday, we posted a review of the LG W2486L, an LED monitor that has a similarly minimalist design to the XL2370--albeit with a not-quite-as-sleepy sensibility. Also, I just got the AOC V22 (a 22-inch 16:10 LED monitor) in and will soon be receiving a couple LED BenQ monitors.

So yeah, it's likely that … Read more
