Zillow brings real-estate research to Android

Popular real-estate research site Zillow.com now has an Android app, which you can use to check real estate and home values while on the go. The app even syncs with your Zillow.com account to give you access to all of your saved homes and searches, from anywhere.

Zillow appoints new CEO, talks growth

Online real estate service Zillow.com on Tuesday announced a new CEO, Spencer Rascoff.

Rascoff was formerly Zillow's COO and vice president of marketing. Before joining the company, he was vice president of lodging at Expedia. And prior to that, Rascoff co-founded travel site Hotwire in 1999 and sold it to Expedia for $675 million in 2003.

Zillow.com is a sort of Kelley Blue Book for homes. It lets users type in an address and see specs on the home--its valuation, the date and purchase price of the last sale, and data on comparable homes. The site is ad-supported and thus free to the user.

The site offers valuations on more than 40 million of the estimated 85 million single-family homes in the United States, with some data on an additional 20 million homes. Zillow, newspaper consortium launch ad network

Zillow.com, which in November 2007 teamed up with a consortium of newspapers to carry their listings on its real-estate site, has now expanded that deal to include the sale of ads on each other's sites.

Under the Zillow Advertising Network agreement, the consortium's advertisers can tap into Zillow's user base of more than 5 million unique monthly visitors, while Zillow's advertisers will have access to readers of the newspapers' online real-estate content.

The newspaper consortium includes 11 major newspaper companies, including the Hearst Newspapers, MediaNews Group, and E.W. Scripps.
