Google does goofy desktop distro

Posted by Molly Wood
Google admits to the Register that its engineers are working on a desktop Linux distribution, a variety of Ubuntu called Goobuntu. Right now, it's unclear what the distro is actually for, other than making me try to say "Goobuntu" 10 times fast in my best James Earl Jones voice. You laugh? You should try it.

Update

Google has done a press release that they ARE NOT going to distribute this. It's all a in house program - custome program. Like many companies...they have customized software for their needs. That's all.

Just what we need - not

Does anyone seriously use any variety of linux for serious desktop work? Few, or no, up to date device drivers, an arcane file structure, some fairly crappy user apps. Doesn't exactly set the world alight.

Now on a web server, completely different thing as it totally smacks down Windoz, but on a desktop PC it's a bad joke.

Let's hope.....

Let's hope the staff that put together the video store isn't working on the OS. That would just be hideous then.
