More video iPod rumors

Posted by Jasmine France
According to an article on CNN Money, Apple could be preparing to phase out the 60GB iPod. Recently, the company informed its distributors that the high-capacity 5G iPod is "at risk" at least until the end of April. Of course, this could mean that supply isn't quite keeping up with demand, but the Apple rumor mill continues to churn out that this latest tidbit is foreshadowing the arrival of the wide-screen video iPod. What do you think?

When Oh when

I've seen these mock ups on the web and I'm not sure about this touch screen idea. The idea of finger prints on the screen doesn't appeal to me. Hopefully this thing has a removable battery. But other than that can't wait to see what apple comes out with next. Anybody hear when this thing might be released?

Widescreen iPod?

I thought they already had the "Widescreen iPod"; they call it the iBook, or the
MacBook, or the PowerBook.

Why not add bluetooth file transfer?

Why doesn't Apple add something to the ipod that's more innovative to its 5g design. In other words, add bluetooth and possible wireless headphones. Instead of paying more for more STORAGE, customers should be given the choice to pay more for more technology upgrades. Some people don't have the choice of using bluetooth, but shouldn't they be given the option of, if they do have the opening for wireless transfer, buying an ipod that is capable? I wish I had a say in what apple is doing with iPod, but I'm sure they already have in progress the things I am talking about in this article. They have to leave the customer to anticipate, and they have succeeded in that by having me on edge.

C'mon Now Guys...

I am all for newer and better technology, but people need to realize that just because a product is replaced doesn't make what you currently have obsolete or worthless. It may be dissapointing, but enjoy what you have.

i bought a 5G video ipod not long ago...

... and im not complaining! its a good thing that a company works hard to keep its product line the best thing there is. if apple didnt, they would be left behind! Anyway, i am happy with the "video" ipod and i dont think i would have wanted one with an even bigger screen as i dont plan to use it for videos anyway.

if apple release a true video ipod next, they would be stupid to discontinue the music ipod. while a big screen is nice, i would rather have better battery life. also, the 5G screen is plenty big enough!

Apple needs to stop shutting out the old

It's all well and good to see yet another iteration of what has already been a very successful media platform. An update to the formula is almost certain at this point, though I still believe that Apple will foolishly leave FM tuner capabilities out of the next iPod.

I however am not one to jump at every new gadget that comes out; I currently own an archaic 4G 60Gb iPod photo which I'll probably keep till it breaks. My problem is that whenever Apple brings out a new iPod, it seems as though they forget that they'd ever made a previous version (other than firmware upgrades). Try finding cases or other accessories for older iPods.

If it weren't for companies like Griffin and Belkin, who knows where us older iPod owners would turn.............certainly not Apple; keep your dumb radio remote, I'll use my buggy Griffin iFM anyway.
