Kyocera and carriers

by Kent German
Although it's always introducing new phones, Kyocera has never made it to the big league as far as carriers go. The company does have a couple of models with Verizon Wireless, but it largely sticks with regional operators such as U.S. Cellular and Alltel, as well as MVNOs such as Virgin Mobile. Kyocera said today that staying with the smaller guys is part of an overall company strategy. As a smaller manufacturer, Kyocera is better able to meet the needs of the regional carriers, a company spokesman said. Also, since Kyocera was Virgin Mobile's launch customer (with a phone called the Party Animal), Kyocera will continue to pump out for the carrier...possibly as soon as next week.
