Revisiting Zer01
Thursday I told you about the launch of Zer01, a new VoIP carrier. At the time, however, information was slim since the carrier's Web site was out of service, which isn't a great sign. But it's back up and running now, and I got a chance to meet with CEO Benjamin Piilani at CTIA.
First on my list was to ask how the carrier isn't a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), even though it depends on major wireless carriers to operate its services. As Piilani explained it, while MVNOs buy capacity from a carrier and resell it later, Zer01 has its own IP backbone and only uses carrier networks to interconnect or roam.
As I mentioned in my previous post, starting July 1 Zer01 will offer unlimited voice, data and messaging for $69.95. According to Piilani, unlimited will mean just that--you'll even be able to use Zer01 devices for laptop tethering. The price includes all takes and fees less a $30 activation fee. Zer01 will not require a contract or credit check.
Use the HTC Touch Diamond with Zer01.
If it foes live, the $69 price would be cheaper than major carriers. Only T-Mobile charges a bit less with an unlimited plan of $85 per month. The service will be nationwide, though Piilani acknowledged that like a standard wireless carrier, coverage will not be perfect everywhere.
All Zer01 services operate as data, which means that you won't be interacting with a standard cellular network. Also, each Zer01 device gets a fixed IP address and it opens a separate VPN session to the company's servers when placing calls or using data.
Partner carriers will get a share of Zer01's revenues, though Piilani declined to give details on the carriers and the revenue split. Zer01's services will work across the entire GSM spectrum including GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA.
At present, Zer01 supports only Windows Mobile smartphones, but it promises to support more operating systems in the future. Also, while it has just five devices in its lineup for now--the Pharos Traveler 117, the Pharos Traveler 127, the HTV TyTN II (aka the HTC Kaiser), the HTC Touch, and the HTC Touch Diamond, you can use your own unlocked smartphone if you wish. All that's needed is a Zer01 SIM card.
After a second pass, I have to admit that Zer01 certainly sounds intriguing. I still wonder how exactly they're going to pull it off, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

COMPUTERWORLD = IDG NEWS
COMPLETELY TRASHES GLOBAL VERGE AS CELL PHONE SCAM
27 July 2009 These Investigators went further and deeper than anyone else. Read Summary below PROOF Global Verge Distributors are Drinking Grape Koolaid Jim Jones style. Computer World considers this complete telephone (cell phone fraud)

I'd wait and let this one
Don't forget, this is almost exactly how Nextel got started, and that turned out pretty well...
Now as far as Zer01 wireless, I have been in the wireless industry since 1993. I have been a corporate sales rep, a kiosk sales rep and an agency owner. One thing I know is that the FTC is very slow when it comes to opening new markets and technology. Promising people a July 1 date and having people sign up and pay for a position in a matrix BEFORE it is live, is WRONG!
I have made many friends over the years that would buy this technology without hesitation BUT, promising a service to a trusting client and not delivering would mean disaster.
I wish I could cut and paste some feature sheets that I am receiving. Show me the product and I will give you the money! Thanks, Linda
Micah

(14 Comments)I was called on this bizarre, "Buzzirk Mobile" scam and encouraged them to call back with details. It is an obvious "product masked" pyramid/Ponzi scheme.
We know of what we speak; we pursue pyramid/Ponzi schemes "up front and personal" saving, especially U.S, citizens billions........Real "Up Front" and Real "Personal". Been threatened, physically assaulted, nearly killed: Been arrested several times by brutal, perjuring Canadian Police right up to the internationally repected RCMP; members of all these Canadian police forces involved in the frauds we have exposed: The latest RCMP false arrest in Kelowna B.C. caught on nation Tv...... charges quickly dropped this time - imagine!!!
Been physically assaulted then sued by an international scam headquartered in Canadian seeking $10,000,000 in damages for libel (cost them over 3 billion calling them, international, racketeering, money-laundering crooks, liars, gangsters thieves and for good measure... "scum bags"). They were also seeking an Injunction to close our website and a Court Order compelling us to return a list of over 18 thousand names (some "very interesting indeed") clandestinely copied from the computer of their "legally registered" Canadian corporate office.
The crooks and their 24 lawyer prestigious law firm "struck out" miserably on all three counts, even failed to get their list of names back, or an Order compelling us not to use them. That means we are allowed to use this list of names at our discretion.
We received an 18 page precedent setting decision from the Ontario Superior Court. This decision, particularly of interest to bloggers being threatened to be sued by pyramid/Ponzi artists, downloadable from our website along with the CBC Nation Tv video.
This decision clearly ties their "product masked" pyramid scheme and "Cookie Cutter" copies, promoted worldwide as (power of 2) (matrix) etc, etc, inextricably to the non-product common, and it must be added illegal, 1-2-4-8 pyramid schemes promoted as (gifting schemes) (Women Empowering Women) (Dinner Club) (Circle of Friends) etc, etc. Check it out; watch our unjust arrest and peruse other scams on our website, particularly Canadian scams defrauding U.S. and world citizens.
