Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) Compatibility Reports

Norton Personal Firewall and Bluetooth Ron Carey reports that Norton Personal Firewall disables Bluetooth functionality on his iBook:

"After installing Norton Personal Firewall the Bluetooth icon in system preferences (plus all settings) disappeared from network preferences. After uninstalling Norton and restarting Bluetooth became available, again minus the settings. I reinstalled Norton Personal Firewall, with the same result."

Symantec confirms NUM 7.0.2 bug Symantec has been able to reproduce the bug in NUM 7.0.2 that causes the preference setting for checking files to have no effect, according to correspondence with Anthony Kassir. A technical support representative writes:

"I have duplicated this behavior on our internal test systems and will take steps to let our Product Group know about this issue so it can be addressed in a possible future update. I apologize for any inconvenience."

Retrospect Express 5.0.25 automatic backups Dantz has issued a statement on Retrospect 5.0.25's performance problems, and inability to automatically backup under Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar):

"LaunchRetro and LaunchRetroHelper are the two processes which will not install/ function correctly on Jaguar. Currently on Jaguar backups needs to be started manually. We expect to bring out a patch resolving these two problems in the weeks following."

Gimp-Print updated Gimp-Print, a utility that many users have found helpful in getting Epson, Canon, Lexmark, and HP printers to function properly under Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) has been updated to version 4.2.2.

This release primarily offers bug fixes and support for all Epson Stylus printers announced since Gimp-Print 4.2.1. The package includes the Print plug-in for the Gimp, and GhostScript and CUPS drivers, including Foomatic data. More.
