Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 6.0 is a single environment to create, build, and manage websites and Internet applications. It includes visual layout tools and extensive code-editing support to develop HTML, XHTML, XML, ASP, ASP.NET, JSP, PHP, and Macromedia ColdFusion Web sites. This is a preview release, the full version is expected to begin shipping in May. [OS 9 & X]

Macromedia Fireworks MX 6.0 is a Web graphics and site production tool. This release adds modeless vector and bitmap editing, horizontal/customizable pop-up menu attributes, Macromedia MX Workspace/Property inspector, Quick Export button, a data-driven graphics wizard, the ability to reconstitute tables, a fully scriptable environment, roundtrip Photoshop 6 text, and more. Stone Studio 04-29-2002 is a suite of seven applications for design to Web and print. This update includes the latest version of each component: Create 10.5.4, PhotoToWeb 1.4.4, PStill 2.2.1, GIFfun 3.1.8, SliceAndDice 2.5.3, TimeEqualsMoney 1.4.3, and PackUpAndGo 2.3.1.

PowerBook flat-panel display adapter = $150 savings Apple is running a promotion that includes its new Apple DVI to ADC Adapter to connect a DVI PowerBook G4 computer to an Apple flat-panel display.

Powerbook Gets Faster, Again From Forbes: "Apple Computer kicked the speeds of its Powerbook portable computers up another notch this week. Not only will new models be faster, but they'll also be able to act more like a replacement for a desktop Mac." More.

Grads Want to Study on EMacs, Too From Wired: "The 'e' in eMac -- Apple's new 17-inch screen, all-in-one G4 machine -- stands for "education." The computer is a slimmed-down, souped-up version of the rotund old 15-inch iMac -- whose "i" stood for "Internet," among other words -- and it's ostensibly only available to teachers, students, school administrators and a few others who can prove that they're peripherally connected with learning." Nvidia's chief scientist on the future of graphics From ZDNet: "Dave Kirk, Nvidia's chief scientist, was in London recently as part of a European tour. ZDNet UK caught up with him to talk about the future of PC and console graphics, whether they will ever really match mainstream movie quality, and how the company will maintain the performance curve." Senators Urge Companies To Relax Their Privacy Bill Protests From the Washington Post: "Several U.S. senators today warned high-tech industry leaders that their efforts to block federal privacy legislation could backfire as state legislators move to fill the void with their own strict and potentially conflicting Internet privacy laws." Hotmail at Risk to Cookie Thieves From Wired: "MSN Hotmail users, guard your cookies. A simple technique for accessing Microsoft's free e-mail service without a password is in the wild and apparently being exploited. The trick involves capturing a copy of the victim's browser cookies file. Once the perpetrator gains two key Hotmail cookies, there's no way to lock him out because at Hotmail, cookies trump even passwords. " More. Note: Its unclear to us if this exploit directly affects Macs.
