Adobe has announced Acrobat 8 Professional, a new version of the PDF-creation and workflow tool to be included with Creative Suite 2.3. Adobe expects to ship Adobe Creative Suite 2.3 -- which will now also ship with Dreamweaver 8 -- for Macs in English, French, German, and Japanese in the fourth quarter 2006.

Acrobat 8 includes improvments to PDF content reuse, PDF forms, packaging of multiple documents, and controlling sensitive information.

A press release states:

"For example, shared reviews put collaboration within the reach of virtually anyone with access to a shared network folder and Adobe Reader 2. A participant in a shared review can see comments posted by others, track the status of the review, and work even when not connected - reducing duplicated work and enabling large groups to collaborate more efficiently. Acrobat 8 also enables PDF content to be exported into popular formats to enable reuse and repurposing of content."

Acrobat 8 Professional is expected to be available for an estimated street price of US$449, and registered users of qualifying earlier versions of Acrobat 3 can upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional for an estimated street price of US$159. Acrobat 8 Standard is expected to be available for an estimated street price of US$299, and registered users of qualifying earlier versions of Acrobat 4 can upgrade to Acrobat 8 Standard for an estimated street price of US$99.

Creative Suite 2.3 will be priced at US$1199 for the full version, US$159 for an upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium, and US$549 for an upgrade from Creative Suite 1.x Premium and Standard.
