We previously reported extensively on an issue where users are unable to launch some Rosetta applications on Intel-based Macs when various haxies enabled through Unsanity's Application Enhancer are active.

The solution is to remove Application Enhancer via one of the two following methods:

  • Open System Preferences and find, then click the APE Manager Preference Pane. Choose the Uninstall option under the Information tab.
  • Re-download the Application Enhancer installer, then launch it and select the "Uninstall" option.

Unsanity has now released updated versions of two haxies, purporting to resolve issues with Rosetta application launching. A post to the Unsanity blog reads:

"We are finally able to give out new betas that we hope fix the Rosetta app issues. So if you have used our stuff and had troubles with Rosetta apps not starting up, try the following betas. If you're having troubles after a while again, you can re-run the optimization from the Application Enhancer preference pane."

The new releases are:

However, some users are reporting persistence of application launch issues after applying the updates.

MacFixIt reader Brian Weeks writes:

"I'm still having trouble with Office launching, even after installing these two haxies on my Intel Mini."
