iTunes 7.0.2 Special Report: Language/country erroneously switched
Several readers have reported an issue where, after updating to iTunes 7.0.2, the preferred language for the iTunes Store is switched to one other than originally specified by the user.
Despite the coincidence with the release of iTunes 7.0.2, this may be a server-side issue that Apple will need to resolve on its end. This is evidenced by the fact that some readers still using iTunes 7.0.1 are also seeing their preferred languages switched.
One MacFixIt reader writes:
"Now when I go to the iTunes store, most things are in German. I now have German podcasts. I don't speak German. Never did. Never installed German translators in the system either."
Scott Mahrer adds:
"I was surprised to discover that when I opened iTunes 7.0.1 this morning that the Music Store had switched to Switzerland! This, I believe, may have been caused by a major revamp of the Music Store itself, and not the upgrade (since I have not upgraded yet)."
Billy Chase writes:
"After upgrading all prices for song at the itunes store are in French."
Fix In many cases, this issue can be permanently resolved by logging into your iTunes Store account, at which point you should prompted with the message "Your account is only valid for the (name of previously used country) Store." You can then click OK and be taken to the proper Store.
Alternatively, just go to the iTunes Store (from the left-hand navigation bar), then scroll to the bottom then select the appropriate store from the "My Store" menu.
