iTunes 7.0.2 Special Report: Audio distortion

by CNET staff

Issues with pops, cracks, stutters and other audio distortion have affected previous iterations of iTunes for some users. MacFixIt reader Stephen Weil reports similar audio distortion for some tracks under iTunes 7.0.2

Stephen writes:

"iTunes 7.0.2 has re-introduced the problem in my 4000 library. It manifests it self in distortion, pops and clicks that, once there, will occur repeatedly in the same songs. It started out with just a couple of files and has now grown exponentially over the last couple of day."

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by re-installing the latest version of QuickTime.
