iTunes 7.0.2 Special Report: Album by artist and year do work with iPod libraries

by CNET staff

The Album by artist/year function does not appear to function properly in iTunes 7.0.2 when manipulating the display of a library stored on a connected iPod.

Normally, clicking on the "Album" column header (when in list view) first organizes by Album, then when clicked again organizes "Album by Artist" with albums in correct track order and artists grouped together; when clicked again, it organizes "Album by Year" with albums grouped by artist and chronological release order.

MacFixIt reader Christian notes this issue:

"The feature album by artist or album by year doesn't work on this version if you use it on your iPod over iTunes. iTunes 7.0 or iTunes 7.0.1 doesn't have this problem."
