StuffIt Deluxe 11.0.1 released: Fixes numerous bugs
Smith Micro has released StuffIt Deluxe 11.0.1, a maintenance release that resolves many of the bugs we've reported in recent weeks including:
- Fixed a StuffIt SDK issue expanding BinHex or MacBinary encoded StuffIt X files.
- Fixed a StuffIt Setup Assistant issue where the installation was overwriting the .profile and .login files rather than appending to them.
- Improved StuffIt Setup Assistant behavior's ability to detect failed install attempts also updated error dialog to be more clear.
- Fixed a DropStuff issue where encryption would not occur if any Custom Compression settings were selected.
- Fixed a DropStuff issue where post-encoding options (BinHex or UU) would fail with StuffIt X archives if the "Create Index Archive" option was enabled.
- Fixed a DropStuff issue where FTP uploads were occasionally stalled at "Waiting for first segment".
- Improved StuffIt Archive Manager's preset Collections to search for files by extension as well as file type.
- Fixed a StuffIt Engine issue where removing all of the content from an encrypted archive would cause the archive to become unencrypted. Now an archive with encryption will require a password even if it is empty.
- Changed Archive Assistant and "Create StuffIt Archive" Automator Action behavior to compress JPEG images using the "Better, with Thumbnails" option.
- Fixed an issue with SEA Maker that prevented double-byte named files to be included in SEA Maker installers.
- Added the StuffIt Deluxe 11 Startup Guide PDF file to the online StuffIt 11 documentation.
Smith Micro offers the following advice for installation:
"While the Setup Assistant application will remove any older system components, it does not remove old preference (plist) files, or older StuffIt applications. Please delete any older versions of StuffIt applications manually.
"If you have difficulties with any StuffIt 11 applications. Try deleting any older StuffIt preference files from the /Library/Preferences directory and your user's ~/Library/Preference directory. StuffIt plist files are typically named com.stuffit.xxxxxxxx.plist where xxxxxxxx is the name of the application that uses the preference file."
