Microsoft Office 2004 11.3.1: Plugs security holes [UPDATE: Download no longer available]

by CNET staff

[UPDATE: This update is no longer available via the download link below, or through Microsoft's AutoUpdate function. We're awaiting word from the Microsoft Mac BU on whether or not the update has been intentionally pulled]

Microsoft has released Office 2004 11.3.1, a maintenance update that plugs a zero-day vulnerability we reported on last week.

The company's release notes indicate that this update "contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code."

Office 2004 11.3.1 is available as a 13.7 MB standalone download in various languages.

As of 9:50 PM (EST) the download link does not work, and my autoupdate does not find any updates.

    Has it been pulled?

Apparently. I have the same problem. Maybe they've been hacked...

I was so 'lucky' to still be able to download the updater before they pulled it. Now none of my MS Office apps will start up. Guess, I will finally use NeoOffice a bit.
