Apple addresses -48 error that occurs when synchronizing some iPods
We previously reported on an issue where iTunes 7.0.x fails to properly synchronize music and other tracks to various iPods, providing the error -48. At the time, we noted that Apple was looking into this issue, and offered several potential fixes for the problem.
Apple has now posted a Knowledge Base document [#304893] with another potential solution that requires the iPod to be restored. The fix is as follows:
- "Temporarily change the Time Zone setting in Mac OS X to Pacific Standard Time (PST) as shown below. This setting can be accessed from the Date & Time panel in System Preferences.
- Open the latest version of iTunes and Restore your iPod
- After successfully restoring your iPod, change the Time Zone back to your normal setting."
