We previously reported on an issue where various iPod models may be adversely affected by the AutoProtect function offered by Norton AntiVirus.

Specifically, there exists and issue where when Norton AntiVirus AutoProtect is enabled, iPods cannot synchronize nor be properly updated. An error may appear indicating that the device is in use by another application.

We've now received word from Symantec that a fix for this issue is forthcoming, as soon as today.

A Symantec representative told us yesterday:

"Symantec has made the iPod fix and it will be released in the definitions update tomorrow."
