Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4124.0: More trial activation key problems, try copying and pasting

We continue to receive reports from a number of readers indicating problems with trial activation keys for Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4124.0 being rejected, often with the message:

"This activation key is not valid for this version of Parallels Desktop"

If you are having this issue, you may want to make sure that you are typing the correct letters, which may be indistinguishable because of the font used to deliver trial activation keys. In many cases, simply copying and pasting works. As one reader writes:

"In my case the problem was 0(zero ) and O(vowel o) mixed in the key, doing copy and paste showed the cause to me, because some smart guy choose a font where the two look the same."

copy and paste didn't work for me, I'll have to call tech support. I just bought this two weeks ago, I hope there isn't an upgrade fee for a new 3.0 build.

Uninstalled build 4124 and reinstalled build 3188 and it works fine now. No need to reactivate it.

You can't use this build 4124 with version 2.5 of parallels. Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4124 is a new version and an fee to upgrade to it. To bad I just bought this two weeks ago from Paralles and now they want another $50 to use it. That sucks!

What I can't believe is that I purchased Parallels Desktop a month ago and now I am being asked to pay almost $50.00 for the new upgrade. Are all software companies getting like Roxio?

As far as I know, they have a free upgrade offer if you just bought it. Check their web site.

Not sure where I read it on the Parallels site or I would show you but it is my understanding that if you bought Parallels in the last month or something like that you will get this upgrade free so check it out with Parallels before drawing conclusions. It might save some frustration time.

Just uninstall the older version or current version and then install the new version. No data lost. Parallels 3.0 is much faster and better than previous versions. Note the 2.x to 3.x transition!

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS UNINSTALL BEFORE REINSTALLING PARALLELS DESKTOP UPDATES OR UPGRADES!!!

Demo keys were being sent out for Beta 3.0 on the day 3.04124 showed up.

After a few hours I got another demo key from their support folks and it worked fine.

Backup your Virtual disk before testing 3.0 or you won't be able to use it with 2.5 !!!

As for the changes, it's friggen grease lightning for me now, plus Direct X is now fully supported once you check the pref's box for it and the new improved coherance is just amazing for my uses.

The changes are well worth my money.
