Only yesterday I had another CD which would not play on my MacBook Pro.

Today, along comes this firmware fix. It applied itself without problems, and now that CD plays without stutters or freezes. (As do other ones which used to give me a problem).

I'd say this is a very welcome and successful fix.

I wonder if Apple will release a firmware update for other computers with SuperDrive. My Intel iMac core duo won't mount many cds I have burned on other units, or if they mount Finder can't read them. Bummer. I have to keep an older computer around in the network to access data from these older discs.

While the window is up that says, "No updatable devices found," go to the dock, select Superdrive update 2.1, hold down the click until popup that says "Keep in Dock, Open at Login, etc." appears. Uncheck "Open at login."

To eliminate the updater program, go to Applications/Utilities and delete Superdrive update 2.1.app

I had the same problem. Go to your "system preferences" and click on "accounts."

Select your account and then the "login items" tab. Select the Superdrive application from the list and hit the "-" button to remove it from the start-up list.

The next time you login that program won't run.

Now my only problem is that CD-RW are showing up as CD-R to the computer. Ugh.
